Don't Be Misled By Hungry Sales Talk
Written by Billy Carter
Over the past few years gas prices have continued to rise to unbelievable prices, and that is no lie. Consumers have grown to be increasingly concerned as prices keep increasing, and they want a remedy urgently. Life becomes tougher and tougher whenever expenses keep going up, but earnings stay the same. It's difficult when you have to drive, but the increased money for gas is not in the budget. It can be distressing when one price increase after another strikes you without an end in sight; and even a small increase accumulates rapidly to a big sum of money.
What is particularly hard is the knock-on result of an surge in the cost of one item, such as fuel, which is an input cost for most other items, especially when it seems to happen almost every other day. Whenever fuel prices go up everything is affected, given that the prices are passed on to the consumers. Similar to the domino effect, if distribution by a trucking company features somewhere in the equation, rates inevitably go up all along the subsequent parts of the system. As soon as the trucking companies pass around the fuel increases to the lumber yards, supermarkets, and even gas stations, they have to pass on the increases as well. And at the end of the line appears the consumer, who is not able to pass on the increases and has no alternative but to dig deeper or go without.
Essentials will take first consideration when money is scarce, and judging whether a trip is really necesssary will become stricter. Less expensive alternatives are sought when prices remain high. New companies get started with solutions that offer to bring help with better fuel usage. The trouble comes when you can't predict which ones work and which ones won't. The extensive variety of solutions on offer is fantastic, but you have no idea if any of them actually work. The suppliers of fuel-saving products know that if something works, especially when it come to saving lots of money over the longer term, nobody begrudges paying for it.
Marketing campaigns are based on the knowledge that price is not an issue and people will probably buy when the right emotional buttons are pushed. You must know this before you rush out and buy a product. You need to do your investigation on each product before you decide which one is the right one. The worst thing you want to do is squander money on a product that doesn't work, so look for product reviews and other consumers' opinions. We have witnessed warnings from the Federal Trade Commission on the subject of using gas savings devices.
Any time a product appears too good to be true, then odds are that it is, which is not something you want to find out after you've parted with your money. About a 100 products have been tested by the FTC, all of which promised substantial fuel savings, but all of them failed to work, so deciding who to trust is a tricky thing. When it comes to fuel-saving propositions, take care not to be misled by hungry sales talk.
