Eating to Avoid An Afternoon Slump
Written by Laura Earnest
- Eat breakfast. By setting the engine running earlier, you avoid blood sugar rushes and drops that can cause fatigue.
- Eat a good breakfast. Any breakfast won't do. A good, low-fat breakfast is going to server your body better than a couple of jelly donuts.
- Drink water, lots of it. Caffeine can rebound on you. Cold water will invigorate and replenish your fluids at the same time. (Note: don't overdo this, drinking too much too quickly can be dangerous!)
- Eat a balanced lunch. Just as jelly donuts set you on the blood sugar roller coaster, so does a high-fat, low-fiber lunch. Low fat protein, veggies and whole grains are better choices.
