You have got your website up and running. The next thing to do is how to promote it. You will have to find ways to do the promotion effectively. As we know, if you build up the site traffic, your business will grow even when your investments are not in the least costly.

Website promotion and search engine optimization bring you great benefits such as (a) increasing the visibility of your website (b) easy communication and information to your potential customers about your latest products/services and offers (c) capturing the list of new subscribers, visitors and potential buyers.

For effective website promotion as well as search engine optimization, there are several ways on how to achieve them:

(1) Conduct site analysis

Your site is done up. To ensure that it is working according to your expectations, you will have to conduct an analysis of it. You will need to find out what are the particular strengths and weaknesses of your site, and subsequently determine the appropriate actions to be taken in order to further strengthen or to improve upon it. This process will enable you to find ways to drive only targeted traffic to your site.

(2) Take care of site desig

Your site must be designed with the search engines in mind. It must not contain unfavorable issues that fight against the tough process of search engine optimization. Do not use frames, as they do pose a hindrance to the indexing role of search engines. Always use text links as these will help the navigation of search engine spiders very much. Your website should always start with your homepage. Avoid using flash, as unfortunately only HTML content can be indexed by search engine spiders.

(3) Research over main keyword phrases

Great effort has to be put into researching top keyword phrases that potential customers may use in their information search. The yardstick to be used here would be those target phrases that are highly popular and are giving lower competition. Each phrase, preferably containing two to three words, can be used within your content. It is important not to use phrases that do not relate to your industry.

(4) Application of keyword phrases

Use a keyword phrase for each page of your site. This is for the purpose of search engine optimization. Always ensure that you write keyword-rich titles and metadata for each page. You may put the keyword phrase to repetitive use but within limits inside your content, purely for the purpose of getting better results with search engine optimization.

(5) Submission of your site

Submit your site to the top search engines such as Google, Yahoo! and MSN for the purpose of indexing by them. Submissions are normally free of charge. This enables your site to gain visibility and traffic in due course.

Website promotion and search engine optimization are vital factors that you will need to tackle for your website. It is worth your effort to do so. Only then will your site be able to gain visibility, increase traffic, and improve the bottom line.
