In order to explore the incredible effects of EFT on one’s sense of Self-Love we must explore what self-love is and how it’s formed.
Self-love can be likened to self-esteem in that if you have a healthy self-esteem you feel that you are as important as other people and that you deserve to be treated well. Self-love, however, takes that concept a little deeper. Self-love means that in addition to you knowing that you deserve to be treated well and that you are important, self-love also includes your knowing of your Divinity. You know that you are an expression of God, that the actions you take make a difference and you are a significantly important part of the planet.
I’ve met so many women that are literally terrified to love themselves for fear that doing so will make them conceited or selfish. It does neither, in fact it is completely impossible. Let’s explore these two concepts.
When we talk about self-love we are talking about love, whereas conceit is based in fear. The fear being that you are not as good as others, that somehow you are inferior to others. This fear is so strong that as a defense mechanism one will attempt to appear confident by demonstrating that they are better than everyone else. We’ve all known someone like this. The conversations are always about how good they are doing and they are not shy to comparing their life with yours. It’s not good energy and we are automatically turned off. We’ll often say “I don’t like her; she thinks she’s better than everyone else”. But she doesn’t, she really feels inferior to everyone else but is doing her best not to show it.
The concept is the same with selfishness. Selfishness is based the fear that if we don’t keep a tight hold on whatever it is that we’ve got we’ll lose it. Whether that’s time, money, knowledge or assets, it’s a fear that we’ll never be able to get it back. But when you love yourself and you are fully aware of your Divinity you understand that you live in an abundant Universe, where everything is always available to you and that as you give freely it comes back to you. But giving never requires sacrifice. As you can see you cannot possibly love yourself and be conceited or selfish.
Where does self-love come from?
How you feel about yourself comes from your childhood. As children before the age of 6 or so the subconscious mind is a sponge and it takes in everything. Most things that affect us the most are completely hidden from our consciousness. For example, you may see our mother sacrificing for other people in her life. You may have witnessed a time when she gave up something very important to her in order to please someone else. Then you may have heard her being praised for being so selfless. POOF! You were just formed a belief system.
Perhaps you had sibling that was ill when you were very young and that sibling got most of the attention for some time. You may have perceived you were less significant than that sibling. I know…that now you understand that little Joey was very ill. Yes, now you know that there was a good reason for everyone’s behavior. But that little girl that still lives within you still feels hurt and left out. That energy within you contributes actively right now to your sense of self-love, regardless of your ability to rationalize it.
Unless you have done some profound inner work you are still creating patterns in your life that were formed in your childhood. All experiences are associated with emotions that contribute to the development of your beliefs which forms your level of self-love or self-esteem. That’s where emotional freedom technique (EFT) comes in.
Just as its name indicates EFT frees you from negative emotions. There are certain emotions that actually block your ability to love yourself. Some of those emotions include anger, shame, guilt, and fear to name a few and not to mention any abusive experiences you may have had. Using EFT to excavate your sense of Self-Love is a profound life changer, taking you from heavy life experiences to living your inspired life and a pure expression of your divinity.
