Emma Jean's Cupcake Factories Story

On June 29, 2010 I went in for a routine checkup, when the doctor went to listen to Emma’s heartbeat she was unable to find it. I was then sent to have an ultra sound to see if maybe they could find her heartbeat that way. However, they could not find it; Emma’s heart had stopped beating. That was the worst day of my life, I felt like I couldn’t breathe and all I wanted to do was disappear. The next day was the second worst day of my life because they had to induce me into labor. I was in labor for 7 hours before she was born on June 30, 2010 at 11:17 p.m. I can’t even explain the heartache I felt at that moment when I didn’t hear her crying. I held Emma for hours, it was the only time I had to spend with her and I wanted to make it count. I miss her every single day; she’s my drive and inspiration to everything I do.

Even though this experience was heartbreaking and almost unbearable I had my family by my side to help me through it. It brought my family closer than ever and we all wanted to come together to build something in her memory. We thought long and hard on what we could do in her memory and decided to build a cupcake factory since the entire family loves to bake. We also decided to name a cupcake after her and have all the profits, from that cupcake, go to the march of dimes. We want to raise money in hope that other families wouldn’t have to experience what myself and my family did.
