Enjoy Your Week Ends At Mumbai
Written by Edna Purviance
After five days of week-long activities, it is quite natural for you to find refreshing weekend destinations to spend your holiday, particularly with your family when you would relax and enjoy your time.
For a Mumbai resident, there are a number of places to visit and enjoy a week end equally, in the form of caves, forts, shrines, beaches, hill stations, sanctuaries and exclusive places for leisure and adventure sports.
Some of the popular weekend destinations around Mumbai are Mahabaleshwar, Karjat, Khandala-Lonavala, Matheran, Panchgani and Malshej Ghat.
Mahabaleshwar , one of Maharashtra’s popular hill stations, is rich with nature’s bounty, giving you the pleasure of nature’s beauty and modernity, with nearby Venna lake, in which you can go boating, fishing and pony riding.
Karjat is one of the cleanest hill station weekend destinations, well connected by road and rail, well known for trekking and is surrounded by steep slopes. Entirely a mountainous region, Karjat gives you a scenic view of the entire range.
Khandala - Lonavala is a beautifully landscaped ghat section, offering panoramic views and also giving you scope for trekking around.
Matheran is another hill station sprawling languidly at an altitude of 800 metres, the entire hilltop cloaked in green. The cliffs of this hillock offer you stunning view of the Mumbai city bustling with activities both in day and night times.
Malshej Ghat is another hill station which is valuable for hikers, trekkers and adventure lovers. You may visit the famous Shivneri Fort, the birthplace of legendary Shivaji and also the Buddist caves dating back to 3rd century, which are close by.
Panchgani is another spot among weekend destinations, providing you walk ways, with lush green plantation and vegetation around. You may also watch the river Krishna flowing through tiny hamlets, farms and ravines hundreds of metres below.
The popular weekend destinations from Delhi include Agra, Jaipur, Udaipur, Shimla, Nainital, Jammu and few other places in Rajathan,UP and Himachal Pradesh.
