Eravikulam wildlife sanctuary is a renowned destination in Devikulam Taluk of Idukki district to the south Indian state of Kerala.

This national park renders as an address to the endangered mountain goat (Nilgiri Tahr) that comes counted over 700 here. Also there reside 26 species of mammals and more than 130 species of birds in this park. Eravikulam national park spread over 97 sq km is amongst the largest conservation areas in the Western Ghats.

Every year, this wildlife sanctuary entrances over 200, 000 tourists. It is exactly the breathtaking in its size and diversity of flora and fauna.

Historyr
During the colonial days, the area became as the hunting and the fishing preserves. The management and protection to the area went vested with the High Range Game Preservation Association, an innovator non-gove
mental organisation in this area, which formed in 1928. This included Nilgiri tahr, sambar, barking deer, gaur, wild pig, leopard and tiger. The area was taken over in 1971 by the Kerala Government and declared as a Sanctuary in 1975. Then it was upgraded to a national park in 1978, in the recognition of its unique ecological values.

Flora and Faunar
Wild dog, leopard, tiger, Nilgiri marten, small clawed otter, ruddy mongoose and dusky striped squirrel are the main attractions in the park apart form Nilgiri Tahar. Elephants here make seasonal visits. Also the form of birds includes black and orange flycatcher, Nilgiri pipit, Nilgiri wood pigeon, white bellied short-wing and Kerala laughing thrush.

Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary: It is situated at a distance of 60 km from the Eravikulam wildlife. Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary have Elephants, Gaur, Leopard, Sambar and the Starred Turtle.

Munnar: Munnar tourism is abundant of lush green views, which covers to a watch of numerous tea estates in Munnar.

Marayoor: This befalls 42 km from Munnar to east of the Eravikulam Park. Marayoor stands renowned for its beauty and aroma of the sandalwood forest.

Mudapetty Dam: This is a popular picnic spot, 10 km from Munnar. Tourists may have the pleasure in activities like boating and the horse riding here.
