Bahu Fort & Gardens
Located at a distance of around 5 km from the centre of the city, the famous Bahu Fort & Gardens deserve a visit. According to the legends, the fort is around 3000 years old. Credit of the establishment of this fort goes to Raja Bahulochan. Gloriously standing on the banks of Tawi River, the fort is a famous tourist’s attraction in the region. It houses a temple dedicated to Goddess Kali. Gardens here are the contribution of Dogra rulers. They named it ‘Bagh-e-Bahu’.
Vaishno Devi Temple
This is amongst the most sacred places for the Hinduism followers. Many of the domestic followers visit the place every year to pay their homage to the deity. Dedicated to deity Vaishno, the temple witnesses countless devotees every year. Earlier reaching the temple was a difficult task but now the authorities maintaining the shrine have introduced different facilities to ensure the ease and comfort of the devotees. Tourists can reach temple on horse’s back, in helicopter or by using the auto service, which is operated for old-age people and kids.
Raghunath Temple
It is located amidst the main city. It houses numerous idols of deities of Hindu religion. The temple also has witnessed some historical events. Situated in the main market of the city, the temple is a must visit place in Jammu. It also houses a shop inside the premises that sells handicraft items.
Apart from the above mention, the city has several other attractions, which include many naturally beautiful places. This city of temples is influenced with Harappan civilization. Other important attractions are Akhnoor, Ranbir Canal, Mansar Lake, Ranbireshwar Temple, City Forest and Peer Khoh.
For shopping as well, the destination is a perfect place. Woollen clothes, dry fruits and handicraft items of the region are popular things that visitors buy during their Jammu travel.
