There are four wildlife sanctuaries in Namdapha National Park. Mongling Forest Reserve in East Siang district is also a national park. Unlike Chopta Chandrashila this northern most state is well known for its trekking routes.
During your trip to majestic country make a point to visit Namdapha National Park, located on the bank of turbulent river Dihing. It is the largest national park in northeastern India. Tucked away 150 km from Miao, India y Boundary Myanmar, in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, attracts visitors from various parts of the India as well from Western Countries. Namdapha National Park was declared in 1983 under the Law on Protection of Wildlife. It is also a Tiger Reserve and was among the largest protected areas in India. Namdapha covers an area of 1,985 km ² and altitude of the park ranges from 200 meters to 4,500 meters above sea level. With a rich diversity of flora and fauna, Namdapha has rainforest and alpine vegetation, they do a good habitat for several species of animals and birds. Most parts of the park experience cold weather throughout the year that adapts to most wildlife species habitating here. It is an ideal place for trekking and hiking. One can cover some area or Gypsy Jeep Safari but the rest of the area has to be covered on foot due to the unavailability of roads.
