Though, recent surveys reveal that certain eye related diseases like acanthomoeba keratitis are connected with the use of contact lenses still many people are added to list of wearers each year especially on colored contact lenses. They just tend to be more deliberate in following the correct regimen in the care of contact lenses. Eye care professionals do continue to advice wearer to abide by the procedure in the cleaning, disinfecting and storing of the lenses. As this eye related infection and diseases could be kept off with regular consultation with the ophthalmologist.
Acanthamoeba keratitis is a microbial infection which was found on patients who mostly use contact lenses. Surveys show that the primary risk factor was contact lens usage. It unveiled that certain contact solution products increase the risk of the disease. Sometime in May 2007, Advanced Medical Optics, maker of Complete Moisture Plus contact lens Solution product disseminated a voluntary recall of their solutions. It was thought that contact lens wearer who used Complete Moisture Plus were at greater risk compared to those who used other solutions to progress acanthamoeba keratitis.
Dryness of the eyes is also a common problem among wearer of contact lenses. Though wearer and non-wearers alike suffer this problem, many eye drops solution were created to respond to dry eye disorders. Eye drops works to lubricate and moisturize contact lenses make it comfortable to wear.
Originally, contact lenses were discovered to correct existing vision problems like near-sightedness and far-sightedness. Today, we can see more people are wearing the device not as a prescription but for fashion. Colored contact lenses work to enhance and alter the color of the wearers eye. in fact, it can serve both purposes of correcting visual impairment and improving physical image.
