With the increased innovations surrounding beauty and skin care, the typical woman may have already started tinkering with eyelashes at one point or another. After all, who would not want those beautiful eyes framed by thick, long lashes? But in order to have maximum eyelash growth, it is vital that she understands a few things about eyelashes in general.

The important things you need to know about eyelash growth are the following:

1. Eyelashes, like every other hair on other parts of the body, have a specific cycle of growth that keeps them growing at regular intervals. They also grow to a certain length and then stop. This explains why nobody can make their eyelash grow longer than what genetics call for. This also means that different people will naturally have different eyelashes based on heredity. This makes it easier for you when you understand that you really cannot do anything to make them grow longer than their designed length.

2. Eyelashes that get plucked out grow back naturally. The cycle will take about four to eight weeks for a lost eyelash to be replaced fully. For a person who loses a whole clump of them, it may take longer, since it can take as long as four weeks for a full replacement to come in. This explains why it is not possible to force eyelashes to grow. Sometimes products that claim to have this output are actually calling for them along their natural cycle of growth. Stay clear from those rip-offs.

3. Stimulating the growth of eyelashes has not been proven by science to work at all. For example, some people believe that if they cut the tips of the lashes, they will get thicker lashes. What actually happens is that they look thicker simply because the old tips grew thinner towards the end, and cutting them left behind the thicker portion of the same eyelash.

4. Using false eyelashes stuck with too much eyelash glue will actually cause you to pull out clumps of your eyelashes every time you remove them. Unless you are prepared to continue using them everyday, you need to be ready to have your eyes looking very sparse. A better method would be to be careful to put on the false eyelashes according to the directions and remove them also according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Unfortunately, being dependent on false lashes for that beautiful thick eye border might get somewhat tedious after a while.

5. Although it seems scientifically impossible to increase the number of eyelashes growing on your lids, or, the thickness of your clumps, some products in the market are known to thicken each strand using certain chemicals. Among these are glaucoma drops, which unfortunately are harmful to the eyes if you use them too often. As such, you need to look for products that have been specifically designed for the use you need, such as those that come in bottles like those of mascara. Thankfully, more brands of this type of item are now available in the market. They come as a sort of serum that enhances your eyelashes to look fuller and longer. Of course, you need to make sure that the product you are considering contains safe ingredients, so do not take consumer reviews lightly.

If all else fails in your quest to stimulate eyelash growth, and you happen to be among the less adventurous persons who want thicker eyelash, perhaps you can make use of a daily application of mascara. But for those who want to explore and are not afraid of possible side effects, eyelash growing products may just be waiting for you to try them!
