Facebook marketing is a great way to produce SEO results, but many internet marketers make some mistakes that really can damage the business they represent. I want to talk to you about some of the most common mistakes people make, so you can avoid making them in marketing your business on Facebook. The main thing to remember is to respect the general unwritten rules of the population on Facebook. If you pursue more aggressive and questionable marketing tactics, you risk getting banned, and you also risk alienating people who are really your target audience. Do Not Use SEO to Spam Spamming is not a good idea. Do not drop the link in the wall of people, and do not send a link to your business via private message. Do not post any affiliate links directly. This will corrupt your friends and can lead to a ban. Rather than impose a direct link to a sell page, link to a page on your own site to provide some type of value. For example, you can link to your blog post or article on your site. Then you can include affiliate links inside the post. In this way, it seems as if you only offer real content to your friends for. Internet Marketers- Do Not Use a Hard Sell You definitely will want to avoid a hard sell effort on Facebook. The average Facebook user is very much against any kind of hard sell from internet marketers. When they smell the marketing, they usually remove you as a friend, or at least never pay attention to anything you say. Don’t Be Fake Many internet marketers try to develop relationships with friends, but fake them to get the trust and respect. It can work, but also a terrible boomerang. Like any business relationship, any time one party feels as though the other is in genuine, the trust dissipates and rarely is there a meaningful business transaction afterward. If you are going to be friendly with your friends, be sure to be honest and true. Many people can see a fake a mile away, so be friendly or not bother at all.
