Moles are common for most people. They are dark spots of skin and are often slightly raised above the surface. Appearing on all parts of the body, as most people ignore or overlook them. Unfortunately, some people get these dark spots on their face, which is more obvious and can lead people to want to learn more information concerning mole removal on face.

These spots are formed when the melanocytes in skin grow in clusters, instead of evenly distributed throughout the skin. Most times, these dark clusters are harmless, although it is best to see a doctor to get a professional opinion, especially if the edges change shape or darken in color.

The most common moles are genetic, often called birthmarks, and are apparent since birth. Moles can worsen with excessive exposure to the sun, causing them to grow larger or darken. In many people, moles are hereditary, passed down through families.

A combination of cosmetic and medical concerns can cause people to decide to have their moles removed. Fortunately, there are many treatments people can choose for removal, from creams available in store and online to surgical procedures performed in a doctor's office.

A consultation with your doctor can let you know which removal method is best for you, based on the depth and number of your moles. There is usually some scarring associates with these procedures, but it is often minimal. Since many experience a slight pain with these procedures, a local anesthetic is often used.

The most popular method is surgical. Since most moles grow deep beneath the surface tissue, that must also be removed with a scalpel to be effective. If the mole is deeper, electrosugery may also be required. For this, an electric current is used to get beneath the skins surface. Afterwards, the area is closed up with stitches.

For moles that don't penetrate as deep in the skin; laser surgery is an additional option. A doctor uses a laser to burn the darkened skin tissue away, both removing the mole and sealing the blood vessels so that stitches aren't needed. This is effective for smaller moles that don't require scalpel surgery. This is the least painful surgical procedure and results in less obvious scarring.

Freezing is another alternative for moles that don't penetrate too deeply in the skin. Liquid nitrogen is used in this procedure and applied onto the skin which causes the cells to die. This method is quick, and carries less risk of scarring.

Finally, there are also some at home products available for removal. This is a good alternative for people who prefer to treat themselves at home. Over the counter creams and home remedies offer an alternative treatment for those unwilling or unable to have the mole removed in a doctor's office and are often a more affordable solution. Depending on which home treatment is used, scarring and healing time may vary.

Because of the many options available, people can make an informed choice when it comes to mole removal on face. With the many treatments available, you can easily find one that fits your budget and lifestyle.
