Failure Preparing Your Child For The Real Life Situations
Written by manish paull
It was the story of an ancient warrior who had fought 40 times against a king and failed every time he tried to succeed. Every time the warrior tried to win the fight, he failed in his endeavor. One day, the disheartened warrior went to a cave and sat for long hours there. The warrior suddenly noticed a spider trying to reach the top of the cave. The spider made several attempts, but every time only failure came to its way. After several attempts, the spider at last succeeded in its endeavor and reached the top of the cave. This incident gave great strength to the warrior and he decided to fight back again. This time he got the victory and become the king of the land.
Some people may perceive failure to be the end of their efforts, but others get inspiration from these. In today’s world, parents have a feeling of doing everything for their kids. They want their child to be successful in every aspect of life whether it is academics, or sports or art and craft. This want from the side of the parents some time make the children weak to accept failure. In the present day scenario, we often come across news in papers or television channels regarding teens committing suicide.
This mostly happens due to their low level of strength to accept failure. So it has become very important to prepare their kids for every situation in life. Kids should learn how to face these situations and how to fight back. The initial years are an ideal time for children to get acquainted with this skill. Parents and teachers can help them in gaining physical and mental strength.
Here are some suggestions that might help our children develop good defeat recovery skills through self-direction:-
- Mistakes and failure are parts of our life. Tell your child about the incidents of failure that you came across in your life and also discuss with them how you fought back the situation to gain success over it. This will boost up your child’s confidence and also develops in them a high level of self esteem.
- If your child fails to accomplish the small tasks, don’t negate their efforts. This can take them to wrong ways. Sit and talk to the child and find out the reasons behind their failure. This way they will be encouraged positively.
- Teach children to strive for personal excellence rather than perfection. Even an incident of failure can be more useful to learn new ways to succeed. Always encourage children to take part in competitions and group activities so that they can learn new survival strategies.
- Ask your children to record every mistake they've made during the day. During dinner, each can describe the mistake from which they've learned the most. The entire family can then decide which one was the best and why. Because this unmasks the advantages that each failure offers, children become more accepting of their shortcomings and mistakes.
Throughout history, risk takers like Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and Madam Curie, the Wright brothers, and Jonas Salk have blessed us with much that is wonderful in our world.
