Faro Holidays and Worth Visiting Attractions

Portugal is known for its diverse variety of attractions. If you are visiting the southern part of the European country, don’t miss out on visiting the city of Faro, one of the most visited regions in the country. The city is famous around the world for its incredible blend of rich past and breathtaking nature. Therefore, every year, large number of tourists plan holidays to Faro especially to experience the diverse life of the city.
One of the most popular attractions in the city is the Archeological Museum. Officially, it is known as Museu Arquelogico. It is housed in the Convento de Nossa Senhora da Assuncao, building built in 16th century. If you want to peep into the rich past of Portugal, visiting this museum is a must. While walking around the museum, you would come across wide variety of fascinating artifacts and paintings. Most of these pieces belong to 16th century. Another attraction that makes this museum an important site for people enjoying holidays in Faro. Apart from paintings, you would also come across silverware, portraits and glassware created during Roman era.
Jardim manuel Bivar is another attraction that keep people planning cheap holidays to Faro. While visiting the popular garden, you get an opportunity to spend some peaceful moments away from the bustling atmosphere. The garden features alluring flower beds and jacaranda and palm trees. This is the most preferred place among the senior citizens. You can sit back in the garden, feel the serenity of nature and admire the lush surroundings. In the eastern side of the garden, you would come across Igreja da Misericórdia, a church built in 14th century. It was demolished in earthquake in 1755 however, has been restored.
Another worth visiting church in the city is Igreja de Sao Francisco. The church was built in 17th century and is strategically located on Largo de Sao Francisco. Today, it is occupied by military. While planning Faro holidays, make sure you are not ignoring the attractions in its surrounding areas. One of the most popular neighboring areas is Estoi. It is located in the northern side of Faro and is just 7.5 miles away. Main highlight of the town is Palacio de Estoi. This 18th century palace is iconic architectural attraction. You cannot enter into the palace however, you can take a look at the magnificent architecture and relax in the surrounding park. Almancil is another popular neighboring area.
