Father of the Bride Speech

The father of the bride speech is very important just because you in fact are the father of the bride. This is not some speech you want to put together in a heartbeat and just blurt out in a minute. Don’t get me wrong, it could very well be one minute long, but you want to think through the words very carefully before you settle on what to say.rnRemember that this day is going to be the most important one for your daughter, and she will most likely never forget what you are saying in your speech. That is why I have decided to write this article and tries to give you a few pointers on what to and what NOT to; say. • Never say anything embarrassing about the bridern• Never bring up old boyfriendsrn• Never say anything that could harm their feelings for each other • Always welcome the groom in to the familyrn• Always welcome the grooms family and thank them for contributing to the weddingrn• Always thank all the far away guests and their families for travelling all this way for your daughter’s wedding rnThese are a few pointers to keep in mind when you are writing your speech. Remember that a good speech will be remembered by a lot of people, but a bad speech will be remembered by everyone that is attending. So basically you should really put some thought in to your words. Let your feelings flow and really tell your girl how much you love her and how proud you are of her accomplishments. You can also go and interview the groom’s family to get some good stuff about your daughter’s future husband. rnThere is nothing wrong in doing a little detective work when performing tasks like these, which you are probably doing only once (per daughter) in your life. Ask around, family, friends, relatives, everyone you think can aid you in your speech writing. But don’t overdo it, keep it simple but with feeling and you should be fine. rnThe most important thing is to remember whose night this is. It is not your night so even though you want to deliver a really great speech, you don’t want to steel too much attention away from the bride and groom. The light will be on you, but the words should be about them and them alone. So begin your speech with thanking those you want to thank, maybe put in a small (but nice) joke or two, but then the speech should be about the bride and groom and their future as a family and how you and your family wish them all the best and all the love and support possible. By taking some of this under advice, I think you will be on your way of creating a great father of the bride speech.
