Finding time is easier when you put yourself in a position to be able to focus. That may seem like a simplistic statement, but in our increasingly plugged in, socially-networked and information-saturated world, focus can be difficult to come by – let alone sustain.

And yet, when it comes to productivity, focus is one of the most remarkable inherent strengths you can ever develop. Whenever you need motivation to take a breath, quiet your mind and concentrate, remember these three key advantages that focus will ALWAYS give you:

1. Focus takes no additional time. This means you always have enough time to focus.

2. Focus, by its very nature, enhances whatever you are doing.

3. The more you focus, the more present you are in your life.

Focus is one of the most powerful time tools you can use to assure that you are bringing yourself fully to each of your moments AND getting the most from what your moments hold. An hour is still and hour, whether you bring focus to it or not – but the content of that hour is essentially different when you are engaged as your fully-focused self.
Let’s unpack the benefits of focus further;

Focus simplifies and amps up productivity: The less distracted you are, the more attention you bring to your task, thereby accomplishing more. When you start to feel scattered, as we all do, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you can do one thing well. Write down whatever is distracting you and tell yourself that when your task is completed, you can turn to that if you still want to.

Nothing can equal the feeling you get when you let yourself experience the centered, relaxed, receptive confidence that focused activity brings. By exercising positive control over your mind and your time, you are immersing yourself in the flow of the present moment.

Focus transforms your relationship with time: Focus will dramatically reduce worries and anxieties about the future – because you are fully occupying the moment you are in right now. When you are alert and focused on the flow of the present moment, you experience the power that you hold. You are the captain of your ship, with the rudder and sail in your hands. The feelings of safety and confidence that come when you put yourself fully in the moment cannot be matched.

Focus builds on itself: As you let yourself experience the satisfaction of being fully in the moment, you become less and less vulnerable to the nagging illusion that there is something outside of yourself that you 'need.'

In the end, focus, which takes no time, will actually give you time because it increases your power, satisfaction, confidence and productivity. It allows you to do well what you can do right now!

So start putting yourself in a position to find more focus and satisfaction with how you use your time, beginning with this very moment.
