First Date Tips: Do's and Don'ts

So you’ve managed to navigate the exciting waters of online dating by studying profile writing tips, avoiding scam artist Russian mail order brides, and learning how to make women chase you in order to land the all important first date.

Before you rush out and memorize a bunch of seduction tips, here are a few tips to make sure the date has a chance of heading that direction.

Resist the urge to be overly-chivalrous by waiting for her to suggest where you should go. Take the initiative of picking the location for the date yourself. Don’t worry that it will come across as boorish. If done correctly, it will show the woman that you are a take charge kind of guy. And although they hate to admit it sometimes, women love men who can take control.

When you get to your location, no matter how well the conversation seems to be flowing, don’t stay in the same place for too long. Things can get stale, and you want to keep the pace brisk--at least at this stage of the game.

Most importantly, never EVER end a first date by starting up a conversation about how you “feel” about her. There will be time for that later. If you start talking like that now, it puts her in control of the entire playing field and lets her know she no longer has to work to impress you.

From this point on, you’ll be doing all of the chasing.

Some things you should do:

Make her laugh. A sense of humor ranks high on most women’s list of qualities they find attractive in men. Laughter is relaxing (for you and her), and releases a flood of stress-relieving, feel good hormones in the body.

After the date ends, don’t blow up her cell phone with calls, voice mails, and text messages. Take a day or two to maintain radio silence, so to speak, and let her wonder what you’re up to. If she’s into you, this will give you a surge or mystery and intrigue in her eyes.

If you mess up on a first date, don’t worry. Everybody makes mistakes. Just keep your mind focused on what to do and you’ll find yourself doing the right things more and more often. Before you know it, you’ll be a pro at the art of the first date!
