Ford unveiled the new C-Max and Grand C-Max in November of this year; both models have been received well by the motoring press as well as prospective customers. Like all new models the C-Max and Grand C-Max had to undergo a Euro NCAP crash test, both the models scored very well for both adult and child occupant safety categories, they also achieved the highest score ever recorded for whiplash protection.

Both the new Ford C-MAX and Ford Grand C-MAX feature Ford's Intelligent Protection System (IPS) which combines a high-strength body structure with state-of-the-art restraint systems. The previous generation C-Max has 45% high strength steel, the new models have 53% making them the strongest C-Max models to date.

Gunnar Herrmann, Ford's global medium car vehicle line director said, “Crash test ratings are an important factor when designing and engineering our vehicles and we're delighted that Euro NCAP has recognised that both the new C-MAX and Grand C-MAX models offer excellent protection in the event of a collision. These are the first vehicles to be built on our new global C-car platform and for them to score so highly bodes well for future products including the all-new Focus which goes on sale next year.”

Ford C-MAX and Ford Grand C-MAX also feature a front chassis sub-frame designed to de-couple from the lower body in the event of a frontal collision, reducing deformation in the passenger cell foot well area. The C-Max models also have Ford's horizontal stroking steering column that reduces loads on the occupant's head and chest by stroking away from the driver in high speed frontal impacts.

The safety features on the C-Max models are very extensive and cover both front and rear passengers as well as pedestrians in the event of a passenger – vehicle collision. A cheap Ford C-Max in Essex is ideal for families and has been designed and built to be one of the safest family cars.
