The majority of the United States population knows what a franchise is; they simply do not understand why they were created and the benefits of owning a franchise. There are many different franchises in the world; one of the largest would be McDonalds. Millions of people visit this fast food restaurant every day because their food is inexpensive, fast and tastes great. When a franchise has issues pertaining to legal matters, franchise law firms are often given a call. The following information will briefly describe important facts pertaining to franchises and why discussing legal matters with a franchise law firm is important.

A few examples of franchises would be:

· Truck stops

· Gas Stations

· Hotels

· Spas

· Salons

· Restaurants

· Mechanic stores

· Clothing Stores

Working with a franchise is typically beneficial as long as the franchise company is successful. It is easier to make money because the company logo is already popular throughout many parts of the world. Starting a business from scratch is often a challenge because a reputation must be made; this is not necessary with a franchise. If you are working with a franchise you must follow certain rules, such as sticking to their strict food menu. This is the main difference regarding working with a franchise and starting a new company name.

It is a proven fact that 33 countries throughout the world have very strict laws pertaining to franchises. When a person decides to invest in a franchise, there are two specific payments that must be paid to the franchisor. Once these payments have been received in full, the person is allowed to rent the franchise name for a certain period of time. This could be a span of three years or forty years, it really depends on special circumstances. The franchisee is the person that has agreed to rent out a space and support the trademark for a temporary amount of time. The franchisor is the “big wig” whose sole purpose is to maintain a positive reputation for the company trademark and monitor the know-how of the business.

When the franchisor and franchisee have problems because the franchisee does not follow specific criteria that was promised and signed in contract, franchise law firms are often hired for legal purposes. This situation could cause the franchisee to pay millions of dollars because of their error in following proper and necessary instructions. A franchisor may also take someone to court if they fail to pay the necessary fees that were agreed upon. This can be a substantial amount of money, but it has been agreed upon and signed.
