PHEW

Bit much for a glorious Friday afternoon eh?

I don’t think so.

I was listening to someone the other day and she said she never takes holidays; because as she saw it a ‘holiday’ is a break from your life.

Why would you want to have a ‘break from your life’; surely a ‘break from life’ would mean – ‘death

Aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Never thought of that before –

me either………….

But it does make sense doesn’t it?

I hear people all the time saying ‘oh I can’t wait to go on holiday’;

I ‘need’ the rest;

I need to ‘get’ away from work

Get away from the ‘pressure’

And yet – think about this –

Aren’t ‘holidays’ stress/pressure in their own right?

So say you are a married guy with a wife and 2 children; or a married woman with a husband and 2 young kids; or a group of girls or lads, or an old couple, – anyway it doesn’t matter …….

Imagine you and whoever you live with or don’t live with or are friends with or are related to or even just yourself – you’ve decided you want to go away.

What do you do?

First of all you start looking online for places to go; or you might go to a high street travel agent (do they still have those?) and you see a really good deal for 2 weeks all inclusive in Spain for you and the whoevers; maybe you start thinking ‘oh I wonder if I could get it cheaper somewhere else’; so maybe you put that on hold and start searching online for other ‘deals’; 5 hours later you’re exhausted and you haven’t even booked anything yet.

OK

Eventually you and the ‘whos’ have booked with the first deal you saw and you’re happy about that, excited even – you pay it all by credit card even though they charge an extra 30quid for the pleasure but you figure that’s ok because it gives you extra time to pay the card anyway!

It doesn’t actually (unless of course you pay off your credit card every month) and then you are quids in.

It’s now coming up to the ‘holiday’;

You’ve organised the time off work, you’ve gone out and bought loads of new clothes for you and the spouse and the kids which has cost masses.

You get your tickets through the post, you order your currency and you’re off

You either drive to the airport and hope there’s no traffic jams on the motorway

You park the car in the long stay car park

If you’ve ordered a cab you hope the company sends it on time

You worry about getting to the airport and is the driver really going the shortest route – the kids are already getting boisterous (a nicer word at this stage than some others I could use)

You travel by train to the airport and there’s all the lugging of the bags on and off trains, up and down escalators

All this and you haven’t even taken off yet.

You get to the airport and the kids are more restless

The queue for check in is a mile and half long and by the time you get to the front desk there are no seats together – aaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhh

OK so one of you takes one kid and the spouse takes the other

You’ve still 90 minutes before boarding so you go in search of food because of course you hadn’t had a chance to have anything before leaving home and the kids are really getting to be a pain now because they’re starving

So after you queue to ‘be seated’ and finally get the 12 year old waiter to actually take your order, you pay some exorbitant amount of money for 2 adult and 2 kiddy meals which the kids leave of course because they don’t like it and then you hear – this is the last call for flight …… to

So you get the kids and the spouse and run for the gate as fast as you can

Of course you get there and apologise all out of breath and get on the plane and everyone cheers

So you’re finally on your way – exhausted, hot, tired, with 2 ratty kids

Then you’re in for the 3hour flight, landing, waiting interminably for your bags, which somehow they always manage to be the last out (well one anyway) so you have to wait around after everyone’s gone, you come out of the arrivals hall and the rep is waiting (im) patiently for you and you’ve an hour’s coach drive to the hotel because of course they drop everyone else off first as you’re the furthest away

and to cap it all what’s that wet stuff coming down??

Freak weather conditions, never happened before in August.

And you spend 10 out of the 14 days inside the hotel / on the complex because you have paid for it all and by now the kids are so bored.

Then finally the sun comes out and you’re back to packing everything for the return flight home –

And if you haven’t got kids the time before the holiday is spent dieting to look good on the beach, working very hard to make sure there are no catastrophes, emergencies in the office while you’re away (even though you know they’re all incapable and you’ll spend at least 2 weeks trying to catch up when you get back) You also need the time for spray tanning, manicures and pedicures, choosing the ‘right’ clothes, packing, shoes, sandals ……..

Why do we do it???

Because it’s a ‘holiday’ - that’s why

somewhere different, something fun and interesting

And maybe it’s nothing like the above but smooth, easy,

Journeys like the ads, hotels and food like the ads, weather perfect, interesting people to chat to in the bar at night…………. Fabulous

And then you have to come back

To the work and the stress………………….

So you come back from your idyll and nothing has changed

You’ve got your great wonderful memories and a large credit card bill

So all I’m saying is why not make ‘life’ life a ‘holiday’ (the good bits obviously)

If we reduce our stress in our everyday lives, manage our time more effectively, have more fun – isn’t that better than the alternative?

Sure we can visit other places – I love travelling, seeing different things, meeting different people, seeing sites – but if we make our lives more fun, enjoy what we have on a day to day basis, be grateful for what we have in the here and now, the people that are part of our lives, – surely that’s got to be the best way to live.

I started off talking about Freedom

We all have the freedom to choose how we live our lives.

The Point of Power is in The Present Moment ;

We only have now –

WE can’t get today back

Regret is the saddest and most wasted emotion

We can choose to live our lives as if we’re on holiday every day – enjoying the moments, appreciating what is rather than worrying about tomorrow

We can have goals sure but let go of the outcome – going with the flow means it might take longer to get there but the journey might be so much more fun

I can teach you how to enjoy the journey of NOW, give you the Freedom to live your life

I can show you how to de-stress, have more energy, better health – it will make you feel like every day is holiday

Have a great weekend

Author's Bio:

I've been on my own personal development journey for many years, discovering, learning and studying with some of the very best experts in their fields.
I’ve always worked in a people environment helping and advising so it seemed a natural progression for me to move from that to becoming a personal development coach.
I believe very much that unless you re-programme your negative beliefs and thoughts you'll never 'move on' and that could be with relationships, weight loss, health, career, money.
Using the very powerful and effective processes of EFT, NLP, Hypnosis, and Theta Healing, I motivate and steer people toward living the lives they want rather than what they 'should' or been told to. This gives them the opportunity to truly live the life they deserve.
I believe that what we put out there we get back and the only way to improve our lives is by ‘reprogramming’ our mindset.
The 3 greatest internal blocks people have are fear, self doubt and procrastination. When we release those we can be, do, have whatever it is we truly desire.
Like a computer when the 'hardware' isn't congruent with the 'software' no advancement can be made when we are out of sync; and it's the same with our brains. If we say one thing – and believe in our subconscious something totally, different we’ll never make the changes we think we want. Our thoughts and beliefs are what makes us tick so whatever the issue whether it’s relationships, work/career, money, self esteem, confidence; I help people look at what is holding them back and help them release those ties enabling them to go forward with whatever it is they desire. . But it can be a very painful process, the letting go, and people have to be ready and willing to make the changes. Affirmations are wonderful tools but useless without that one major ingredient – Action!
Once you take the Action, are consistent and make the commitment – YOU make it happen
With Persistence plus Confidence YOU equal Success
My greatest joy is seeing the transformation when someone releases their blocks and moves forward.
