From the Waiting Room to the Runway
Written by Lori Nadeau-Dunlap
Believe it or not, the fashion forward trends seen on the fall and winter Fashion Week catwalks in New York and Milan can be found in your everyday nursing uniforms! Use these examples as a guide and create your own fashion forward combinations to feel good about yourself while helping others.
We’ve highlighted a few of this season’s fashion trends and how they can translate into your day-to-day uniform regimen. All you need now is to perfect your strut, and you’re good to go!
Texture: Mix it up! Fall and winter layering options create the perfect canvas for you to be adventurous with different textures:
• Crochet Trim Top ~ Crochet detailing around the sweetheart neckline as well as the bottom hem
• Princess Seam Top with Embroidery ~ Contrasting trim accents combine this season’s texture trend and stylish feminine accents
40’s Chic: Old Hollywood comes to the workplace, try tops like these to be subtly glamorous and elegant:
• Rolled Collar Button Front Top ~The exposed neckline and crisp collar give this top a stylish feminine touch while being basic enough that it can span across several seasons
• Koi Scrubs Petal Burnout Top ~ This A-line top has button detailing at the neck, gathered sleeve detail, and fabric-petal burnout embroidery throughout
Pleats and Frills: The perfect way to combine girly and professional at work, tops like these give off an understated romantic vibe:
• Ruffle Mandarin Collar Snap Front Top ~With a Mandarin collar, ruffled v-neck, and gathered shoulders this top is delicate and oh-so-trendy
• Koi Scrubs Lily Top with Pleated Neckline and Rounded Smock Pockets ~ Smocking details on the front pockets paired with a pleated neckline and wispy sleeves make this top feminine chic
Trip to the Zoo: Animal print is one of the hottest fall/winter trends, leopard in particular! While celebs can rock items like leopard print skinny jeans, we most likely have to stay a little tamer for the workplace…here are a couple work appropriate ways to channel your inner animal:
• Rampage “Feline” Top ~ All over leopard print with a feminine lace trim
• Animal Print Slip Resistant Clogs ~ If an all-over animal print top is too adventurous for your taste, zoological footwear is a subtle way to stay trendy (and functional) while at work
Prints: This season’s fall and winter print trends are classics like plaid and polka dots that will remain timeless stapes:
• Pencil Plaid Button Front Top ~ Especially in this season’s hottest colors like purple or maroon & gray
• Mock Wrap Top with Polka Dot Detailing ~Add a youthful punch to any outfit with spots…if all over polka dots are too much, opt for a wrap top where the top is printed and the bottom is solid black
