Suffering from cold sores is not only disturbing but it is also embarrassing. Their unsightly appearance is so embarrassing that it can interfere with ones social life. Sometimes they are so annoying and disgusting that they usually appear when you have something important to do or attend to. You can say that their timing is really bad. Can you attend a wedding with a cold sore? Or can you commit for a date with someone special when you have cold sores? You will probably cancel your appointments and dates until those unsightly sores subside or disappear. To look and feel better, it is important to get rid of embarrassing cold sores.
Cold sores are unsightly fluid-filled blisters that appear in and around the lips and even around the nose and chicks. They are highly contagious and they could be really painful and annoying. Oral cold sores are caused by Herpes Simplex Virus type 1 or HSV-1. It is the same family of virus that causes genital herpes which is caused by Herpes Simplex Virus type 2 or HSV-2. About 8 out of 10 people can be infected by oral virus or HSV-1 sometime in their lives. Kissing and sharing things like glasses, eating utensils, toothbrush, towels and anything that comes in contact with ones lips can spread the virus to other people. If you are infected by the virus, it is important to know how to get rid of embarrassing cold sores and free yourself from the pain and embarrassment.
For most people, this viral infection usually last for about a week or two. It is important to see your doctor once infected by the virus. Your doctor may recommend antiviral medications. It is good to be treated by medications as soon as you felt itchiness or tingling on the affected area or before the blisters come out. Antiviral medication inhibits the growth of the virus. So if you are treated as soon as you felt the tingling, you can prevent the virus to flourish and you will be saved from cancelling important events. You can get rid of embarrassing cold sores with early detection and treatment.
Self care is also important. Avoid touching and squeezing the affected area because it will just make the infection worse. If the affected area is too painful, putting ice can help ease the pain. A healthy lifestyle can help you stop the virus. People are usually prone to viral infection if their immune system is weak so living a healthy lifestyle can boost your immune system and ward off viral infections. Get enough sleep, eat nutritious foods, get physically active and avoid unhealthy habits like drinking alcohol and smoking.
Once you get infected by the virus but it is also important to keep it from coming back. They have the tendency to come back because the virus are just sleeping or hiding in the nerve cells and will wake up once triggered.
