Get Rid Of Your “To Do List” and Create Your Own Operating System Schedule To Increase Your Productivity

You have a computer right? How does your computer know what to do? How does it now how to function? How does your computer provide you with the word processing, HTML Editor, or Video Editing software you use to build your online business? Your computer is only able to be as productive as you need it to be because it has an operating system that tells it what to do. This operating system, (whether it's Windows 7 or Mac OS X 10.7 Lion ) tells the computer what to do, how to respond to your every command, when to update its software, and when to conduct a virus scan. More importantly, the operating system keeps your computer functioning properly so that you can be productive; but what about YOU? How do you know what to do each day to build your business? What system do you use to keep you functioning properly and being productive? If you think your “To-Do-List” is making you more productive, I challenge you to use the steps below to create your own Operating System Schedule to keep you focused, each day, towards reaching your monthly income goals.

Step 1 – Establish your goals. Your goals are your guide and all of your activities that you complete and engage in during your day should support your goal. If you have activities that distract you from your goals, don't do them or if you have to complete them, only spend minimal amounts time on these activities. Need help developing your goals? Step 2 – Write and schedule your day in blocks of time. For example:
• 6 a.m. - 7 a.m. - Work-Out
• 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. - Work J.O.B.
• 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. - Follow – Up with leads
• 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. - Call New Leads

I think you get the point. When you attach blocks of time to your activities, it becomes less of a checklist and more of a schedule to keep you focused on your tasks. With a random To-Do-List, there is no system or schedule in place. Your own Operating System Schedule also helps hold you accountable for your actions (or lack thereof) and gives you a point of reference of how you are progressing against your business building activities.

Step 3 – Make sure you prioritize your activities. Don't know how to prioritize? Refer back to your goals. If your goal is to be able to quit your J.O.B within 24 months, and you need $5,000 a month to do so, you need to prioritize your activities based on whether or not the task supports your goal. The activity of partying probably shouldn't be on your Operating Schedule System (or shouldn't be a top priority). However, self-development, promotion, advertising, and relationship building tasks should be highly prioritized.
