Our daily lives often keep us so busy and caught up in trying to plan for the immediate day that we neglect the overall big picture.
While Spirit reminds us to slow down and be present in the moment, you might find it challenging to relax if your personal space is cluttered, paperwork is overflowing, or laundry has been sitting on the chair for three days.
Many people have a tendency to wait until the last minute to take care of business, whether it's paying the electric bill, helping their child with a school project, or cleaning the house.
With the glorification of busy nowadays, individuals pride themselves on participation in community groups, scheduling extracurricular activities for kids, or hosting multiple family parties.
But what happens when the peace of your inner sanctuary is threatened? You've put all your effort into managing others' affairs that you've neglected your own personal matters and sense of security.
The reasons why we put off things like sorting through mail or decluttering our spaces can vary. Some people may find it boring while others lack organizational skills.
Deeper reasons why personal stuff doesn't get handled efficiently may be related to mental and emotional influences. Going through bills may cause anxiety over money or storing old photos can trigger memories of an ex-partner.
Unhealthy attachments can form to objects and circumstances that you're not ready to move on from. Other people may create attention for themselves even if it's negative by not claiming personal accountability. You may choose to blame someone else or make excuses as to why you're not capable of resolving a problem. Some might simplify their lives and generate free time but then fill it right back up with unnecessary engagements.
Regardless of the reason, being unorganized and not having affairs in order can lead to chaos and inconvenience. You can't really be in a place of sustained inner peace if your outer world keeps building up with messes and disorder.
Avoiding the problem altogether clearly won't fix it. If you're scared and aren't aware of how to heal a situation but know that something needs to shift, set a clear intention to take charge and progress forward with positive action. Do some research and empower yourself. Ask the universe to reveal solutions, opportunities, and perfect outcomes.
On a very basic level aside from work, it's important to have a functional system in place for self-care, financial paperwork, house cleaning, groceries, and child-related activities if you have kids.
Managing as much as you can when issues come up can help maintain flow within your daily life. As you are completing a task, be mindful and aware of what's going on.
For example, if you serve your family breakfast and realize that you are out of eggs, then write "eggs" on an ongoing grocery list as soon as the awareness comes into mind. If your child needs to wear her red shirt for a field trip the next day, then pull it out and form a set of clothes so she can be ready. Learn the habit of anticipating future needs and you will be much better prepared.
Whatever is in the back of your mind that you know you need to handle, carve out some time and just take care of it. Process through any emotions that may come up and relax into a better state of alignment.
If you desire and are committed to improving your quality of life, the change has to start with you. Be your own advocate, get organized, and take responsibility for your life. Managing your personal matters is showing yourself love and respect. You deserve and are worthy of receiving the sense of power, confidence, and wisdom you gain by trusting your own capabilities.
