Golden Root is native to Siberia and Europe and has been used there for the treatment of a multitude of ailments, including anemia, depression, fatigue, impotence and infections. Athletes like the stamina--building properties of Golden Root, and this arctic native has been used to fight infection, anemic conditions and heart problems, while helping to enhance mental clarity and sexual function. Unlike well known chemical drugs there are no known side effects with the all natural Golden Root. Sexual Golden Root is believed to be an aphrodisiac for both men and women, helping to increase sexual potency in men, managing erectile dysfunction and/or premature ejaculations, and also normalizing prostatic fluid. The sex-enhancing effects of Rhodiola rosea are likely due to its capacity to reduce body levels of stress chemicals which can impair sexual function.

Effects

The adaptogenic properties, cardiopulmonary protective effects, and central nervous system activities of Rhodiola rosea have been attributed primarily to its ability to influence levels and activity of biogenic monoamines such as serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine in the cerebral cortex, brain stem, and hypothalamus. Golden Root combats the effects of asthenia, an emotional stress condition that is characterized by sluggishness, low motivation, muscle weakness, continual fatigue, labored breathing, palpitations and excessive sleeping. The effects of Rhodiola rosea are attributed to its influence on opioid peptides and endorphins, and also its ability to optimize serotonin and dopamine (neurotransmitters involved in depression) levels. One of the most interesting aspects of Rhodiola rosea use is the complete lack of side effects. A study was performed to test the effects of Rhodiola Rosea when stress or shear stress is caused by intense mental work (such as final exams). Such tests concluded that using Rhodiola Rosea improved the amount and quality of work, increasing mental clarity and reducing the effects of fatigue.

Performance
Based on the multitude of Russian studies, beginning with Soviet scientists 35 years ago, scientists and trainers recommend Rhodiola rosea with increasing frequency in many arenas of athletic performance to improve speed, strength, stamina, muscle building, energy reserves, and recovery time. Rhodiola rosea's extraordinary multifaceted ability to maximize peak physical performance is supported by enough solid science to justify offering it to the general public as a valuable supplement for enhancing physical fitness. Rhodiola rosea is clearly an effective herbal supplement that enhances mental and physical performance in todays top athletes.

"Rhodiola Rosea, a Well Known Herb, Extends Life Span in Fruit Flies." According to a recent study from researchers at the University of Califo
ia, Irvine fruit flies who ate a diet rich in Rhodiola rosea, which is a herbal supplement that has been known for a long time to provide relief from stress, lived an average of 10 times longer than flies who did not get any of the herb.
