The three cities of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur are steeped in the history of India. You can’t help being struck by the awe-inspiring regal splendor of their historical monuments on the Golden Triangle Tours. These cities have been the seats of royalty during different periods in their respective histories. Firstly, Delhi has been at the heart of Indian civilization since time immemorial. It is mentioned in the great Indian Epic, Mahabharata, by the name of Indraprashtha. Ever since, it has continued to influence and shape the Indian culture and history. It is said to have been established seven times on seven different sites. Delhi passed through the reigns of Tomar and Chauhans before being conquered by the Afghan, Md. Ghori. With the establishment of Islamic rule, Delhi would remain at the center of India. The ups and downs of the city are reflected in its historical ruins. The first amazing destination you would explore on the Golden triangle tours is Qutb Minar. It was the first Islamic monument to be erected in India. Then, you would explore other famous historical monuments like Red Fort, Humayun’s Tomb, Chandni Chowk, etc. There are also beautiful colonial buildings like Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhawan, CP, etc. The old world charm of the buildings would enthrall you. Now, it is a dynamic city with seamless fusion of modernity and traditions. Agra is the city known for its rich heritage. Being the seat of Taj Mahal, it is the most popular destination of Golden Triangle tour itinerary. It is one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaj Mahal. Mark Twain said famously of the Taj Mahal ‘It is a tear on the cheek of the ete ity.’ On seeing the Taj, you feel like listening to a poem composed in stones. Seeing the blindingly beautiful Taj in the pale light of the full moon is surrealistically mystic experience. The grand ruins of Fatehpur Sikri narrate the grandeur of the medieval era. Agra Fort is another splendid monument built in red stone on the banks of River Yamuna. The fort is representative specimen of Indo-Islamic architecture. There is another important historical monument called Itmad-ud-daula’s Tomb. It is significant as it was built earlier tha Taj Mahal and is precursor to the Taj Mahal. Jaipur still breathes royalty as you would feel walking through the streets here. The city is also known as the Pink city. Founded by Swai Jai Singhji II, it was one of the earliest planned cities in the world in it time. It is immensely popular destination of the Golden Triangle Tours tours because of regal heritage and colorful traditions of Rajasthan. The city has numerous popular destinations like Hawa Mahal, City Palace, Jantar Mantar and Jal Mahal. Thrilling elephant ride up the Amber Fort is just too exciting. The fort is considered as one of the biggest towering achievement of Rajput architecture. It is fusion of Rajput and Mughal architectures.
