Ok, let’s say that despite what we’ve said up until this point; that the recession really isn’t that bad and that not everyone is going to lose their jobs or become a desperately poor vagrant on the streets, some people may still lose their jobs. While it is a fact of life; bad economy or good economy, job loss during a recession seems to have so much more meaning tagged on to it. This is actually the fault of the media and gossip loving people. News reports are telling us every evening that things are just continually getting worse, and that pretty soon, we’ll all be living out of a cardboard box. Unfortunately, these programs will keep getting away with it as long as they are allowed to do so, and it doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon. If you happen to be one of the small few that lose their job, then you should remember to take it as an opportunity, and not think that your life is over, like the news programs would have you believe. If you feel like you can’t, then here are some tips to help you out in tough times:
  • First off, you want to stay positive. Don’t think about all the bad things that are going on in the economy, think about all of the opportunities that this will open up for you and your family! You could get into a career that you never would have thought of before, and you might even find your life’s purpose!
  • Next, use your time wisely and in the best possible ways that you know how. As an example, maybe you have recently lost your job. Instead of thinking that you are in a deep dark hole that you will never be able to get out of, start thinking about the jobs that you think you would actually enjoy.
  • Another great tip is to be creative. Think about trying a job that doesn’t follow the norm. Want to stay home and be with your children while still bringing home some income? Try being a freelance writer, or even starting your own childcare service right out of your living room. Do what needs to be done in order to take care of yourself and your family.
nRecognizing these great opportunities and the ability to be creative will take you quite a ways when times seem like they are getting really tough. Just know that within you lies a spirit that cannot be kept down. It cannot be told that you have no control of your situation; it cannot be told that you have no way out of this but to go on government assistance. You can do anything you put your mind to, as long as you follow your intuition. If you get an urge to call someone - call them! They just might have the knowledge of a great job out there that would be perfect for you. Keep an open mind during these tough times and you will be able to see it for the great opportunities it has to offer.
