Social Media Marketing is trendy. At times when everyone is socially “empowering” their business, it is apparent that there is a huge scope for this particular form of marketing. Big brands are making use of social media on full-swing and the smaller ones are making intelligent use of available resources to grab a space and fill it with their presence of umpteen social media platforms. Almost everyone has tried to reach out with a social media campaign but only some could get it right. Here are a few social media campaigns of all times that top the charts till date:

  • Action Starts Here: The BlackBerry India’s social media campaign was all about its 360 degree marketing. The purpose of the campaign was to find out what does BlackBerry mean to the users. The results concluded that BlackBerry means action. The campaign was run on almost all social media campaigns.
  • Save With Subbu: This one was started by Kotak Mahindra. It allowed users to co-author and maintain “Smart Saving Book”. Subbu was a character responsible for sharing savings and investment tips with people through Twitter and Facebook.
  • Guess Whose Flavor: Lay’s from PepsiCo Inc. started this concept with which it introduced six new flavors in the market. The concept was a tremendous hit and won a lot of contestants. Famous cricketers were roped in to run the campaign which added to the success of the campaign.
  • The Greatest Indian: This was a social media campaign conceptualized for the biggest hunt for the greatest Indian. Infotainment channel, History TV18 in association with CNN IBN and Reliance partnered to produce this social media campaign. The campaign gathered opinions and held debates through a number of social media platforms as well as through television.
  • Evian-Roller Babies: Cute, funny and absolutely hilarious, the Evian “Roller Babies” social media campaign was widely admired and adored. The Roller Babies video was launched in 2009 and was a part of the Live Young Campaign. On Youtube it became the most watched ad ever.

Social Media Campaigns have been gaining popularity since the previous five years or so. The evolution of a number of new platforms for interaction has made it easier for marketers to create a presence felt everywhere through this medium. With social media, it becomes easier to show-off products in a better, organized and creative manner. A real store may not be able to show-case their products in as good a manner as social media does. It is a great marketing platform to stay connected and interact with the customers. Photos, graphics and video can be exploited to their maximum advantage with a social media campaign. Another plus point is that the consumers not just stay in touch with your brand but also start understanding it better. Regular updates keep them informed about you and your products. A social media campaign conceptualized keeping customer benefit in mind definitely succeeds. A theme and a purpose are a must for the campaign purpose to be correctly perceived.
