Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide - 2, also called GHRP2 is one of a family of peptides that act on the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus to release growth hormone. These compounds do so by activating a G protein-coupled receptor. Synthetically derived, GHRP-2 increases the body's production of HGH and can be prescribed for both children and adults.

GHRP2 can be delivered through a variety of methods; IV, intramuscular, subcutaneous and sublingual. Each method offers slightly different onset time but similar peaks and declines in the blood.

The Role of GHRP-2
Growth Hormone Releasing Peptides can be used for several purposes. GHRP2 stimulates appetite by causing a release of Ghrelin, a peptide that the stomach produces to promote hunger and gastric emptying. The peptide is also used to increase the release of HGH in individuals who have low natural production.

Users report more than an increase in appetite. Many report that they have experienced an increase in muscle mass and concomitantly, strength. Others state that they feel better and see a decrease in body fat.

GHRP2 displays an ability to speed healing and strengthening of connective tissues, making it quite useful when recovering from injuries. Research also seems to indicate that GHRP 2 has a protective effect on the liver and also offers some anti-inflammatory benefits.

GHRP-2 for Men
Men in particular seem to benefit from GHRP-2. With the normal decrease of HGH that comes with age men often experience a drop in sex drive, an increase in weight and difficulty sleeping. There are many injectable supplements that are used in anti-aging regiments; GHRP2 is among these.

Benefits cited for men include improved endurance, increased calcium retention in bones, superior liver glucogenesis and possible boosts to the immune system. For weight loss it is the significant decrease in belly fat that is particularly appealing. All of these advantages result in feeling and looking better.

Dosage Trends
Dosage of GHRP2 varies. Lower dosages are recommended for those individuals seeking better sleep and improved structural health. If the goal is to build muscle mass doses are often higher.

Several studies have indicated that it is best to use GHRP2 in bursts since maintaining an elevated blood level seems to create a resistance to the compound over time. The body's natural production matches the "burst" based pattern, which may account for this.
