Recently, I performed a beautiful releasing ritual with some dear friends. If you have followed along with my newsletters you will remember I recently ended a relationship. While I learned the lessons from it, I still felt the painful emotions of it. I went through the holidays with the emotions, but I didn’t want my new year to be that way. Those of you who know me, know that I used all the “tools” in my “healer’s bag” that I knew to stay healthy. The “spiritual tool bag” I created for me includes all of the coaching, intuitive tools I teach as well as the Reiki and the support of other holistic practitioners that I have met on my journey. When we are grieving and healing, it is best to realize we need the support and guidance of others and can’t do it all alone. I have been working with a Shaman for some time now and she is a wonderful soul who suggested I perform some sort of releasing ritual. She gave me some herbs and told me to use them to release the emotion that I was still carrying. While she provided me with some thoughts, I decided to create my own ritual; one that I have shared with my friends and am sharing with you. Remember the work of releasing something is to be done with conscious intent. This ritual is very easy and something you too can use! n nSteps to Releasing: 1. Select a date for the Ritual. It should be a date selected from the day of the full moon up to 3 days prior to the new moon. 2. Ask a friend or friends to support you. I put a request out to my friends to see if they too had something they wanted to release and asked if they would like to join me and support me on the evening I chose. It is a beautiful ritual whether it is shared between males and females or just members of the same sex. (I find that a circle of friends to participate creates more energy for the ceremony. The most important thing to remember was that this is your ritual and while it is open to others, you need to remain focused on what you are releasing. We are the only ones that can do our own work! 3. Select a location to hold the ceremony. It should be in someone’s backyard where there is a firepit or a large metal bowl/trash can to hold the fire. Fire consumes and transforms energy. 4. Select the time, preferably after sunset when the moon could be in view. Dress appropriately for the weather. 5. That day be supportive of yourself and spend some quiet time individually in contemplation/meditation about the situation you want to release. This is perhaps the most important step in the process so be vigilant about it! 6. After you spent some time with this, write exactly what you want to release. (The cool thing about releasing a relationship, you do not have to release the love and beauty of the relationship; rather it can be releasing the negative emotions and associations of the relationship. It is what I like to call the “ICK” of the relationship. 7.Select what you would like to say as you perform the release. I asked my spirit what I needed to say and what I chose was the following: I forgive you (the person’s name) and I release you 7 times and then I said I forgive you April and I release you three times. Then I chanted out loud an ancient Hebrew chant I selected. The translation of the chant I selected was “Do not be afraid for you are not alone. Do not be afraid for I am with you.” That chant resonated with me particularly because I felt I needed the extra support of God. (You do not have to use the words I used—be sure it is what your spirit needs! It could be as simple as saying Peace or Om Shanti Shanti Shanti.) 8. To prepare for the burning away of what you no longer want. You will need to fold up into quarters your paper(s) with the writing of what you want to release. Wrap wax paper around it and tie it with raffia. 9. Gather outside with your support network and create a circle around the firepit/bowl (this seems like a pagan ritual, but it need not be as you can see I used a Hebrew Chant, others that participated with me used what they resonated with.) The most significant thing to remember is your connection and support to and for one another on this journey. A way to physically feel the connection is to hold hands and say a prayer together out loud. 10. Light the fire with some kindling (be sure to have that on hand) and be very careful (have a bucket of water or a hose readily available.) You may add herbs/incense if you wish as well for releasing. I will be happy to provide you with a list if you would like. Please contact me separately. 11. Now you are connected and ready to begin. You will start with cutting the cords of this situation. We all develop a tie/connection/bond/cord to the situation/person. In a motion with your right hand, chop the air down the front of your body and the back of your body while chanting an Egyptian Chant for cutting cords. T he chant is Sah Hetip Nah. (it is a phonetic spelling not the correct one) It should be stated 7 times together. 12. Then one person at a time performs their release in the following way before you move onto the next person.n• Place your wax paper and raffia package into the fire while saying out loud what you are releasing in the words you wish to use followed by the chant you have selected. You continue to chant while the flames are engulfing what you wish to release until it is burned and you feel it is completed. n• It is important to chant out loud as that vibration is what carries the release higher. n• It is also important to allow yourself to feel whatever emotion may come up as that too is part of the release. 13. When you are done, you move on to the next person. Feel free to send out supporting words if need be to each person. 14. Once each person has completed their release, hold hands once again . You may choose to say together a prayer or just end it simply with Amen or And so it is. 15. Once complete, you can celebrate together with a meal/snacks to help ground you and feel the support of your circle of friends. Share your experience with one another. n nI will tell you the next morning you will wake up much lighter and feel that a shift has occurred. I will be happy to answer any questions or provide any guidance you may need for this process. Feel free to contact me.
