How do we make our dreams become reality? What do I do next?

In my many conversations on this topic lately, I have been reminded that I 'assume' people know this information. I have been working with these techniques and processes for over 20 years and it has all become second nature to me. I need to be reminded to share the baby steps in helping people to move forward. So, what's next?

Now that you have an 'image' in your mind of what you want your life to look like, it's essential to take action. While it is important to post that Vision Board somewhere visible, so that you can look at it frequently during the day, imprint the images on your mind, and wallow in the 'feelings' that are created -- let's go that next step! Let's keep it simple.

On my sample Vision Board, I had a photo of a new brown suit jacket. In the past, I typically wore the colors black (well, I know that's not really a color, but you know what I mean) or navy blue. While the photo seems quite 'simple', the idea (or dream) behind it was larger than that. It represented my choice to step out of my comfort zone and try something different. Thus, the photo. The steps I took to bring that to reality included:

1. looking at that photo every day, up to 5x a day -- to assimilate the vision into my mind and to 'see' myself wearing something different;
2. writing affirmations about the whole idea (more on that in a future issue);
3. setting a date to go clothes shopping (really! It was important to put a date on the calendar and commit to that date);
4. ensuring I took inventory in my closet first so that I knew exactly what I had and what I needed 'to go with' the new brown suit I would be buying;
5. getting a good night's sleep so that I was in the right mood for clothes shopping (ladies -- you know what I mean by that!);
6. checking my bank account/budget to identify the kind of budget I would be working with;
7. inviting a friend to come with me because I always value the opinion of someone who knows me and cares about me;
8. and setting the intention to have fun and bring this to reality!

I now own a phenomenal brown suit jacket. It felt weird, at first, to even be wearing a brown suit jacket, but each and every time I wore it, I got so many compliments that it really makes me feel good about the change.

The key concept here is to bring a vision into reality. It doesn't 'just happen'. So, while I love to create Vision Boards and post my dreams, I also love to celebrate the completion of the dream, or goal. Then...I dream bigger dreams!

And that's it! Your turn!
