Here are a few proven methods for healing asthma without the use of steroids and other kinds of medications that cause problems with our immune system and create havoc with our health. There are many alternatives to medications for healing asthma. But modern medicine would like us to think that medications are the only thing that helps with asthma… but that’s not the truth.

Turmeric has been around for thousands of years and has many great health benefits, including the ability to help with lung challenges including asthma. Here is a simple over view of how heal asthma with turmeric, and also hypnosis, meditation, and counseling… and a few other things that can also help with asthma.

Turmeric is a powerful herb that has so many health benefits. But one of the most important is the ability to dilate bronchi, and quiet down bronchial spasms thus allowing more air to move through the lungs and thus a person can breath deep.

The most common dose for turmeric for those who suffering from asthma is 4 - 500 mg capsules twice a day, and up to four times a day. Or taking 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder with some honey twice a day and up to four times a day. And it’s also important to drink lots of water, at least 8 full glasses of water everyday. Our lungs are full of moisture and need water to lubricate all the mucus membranes. And without water inflammation takes over creating more challenges with asthma.

Also personally I’ve found that the mind/body is very powerful. And just about every one of the people who I’ve encountered with asthma have had some kind of powerful trauma in their life, and this could be held in the conscious or unconscious mind. And that trauma in some way, shape, or form causes fear, and that fear causes powerful changes in the body. And for asthmatics it usually results in tightness in the chest, constriction of bronchioles, and the inability to breathe, which we also associate to the process of fear. Just think about a lion about to attack and all of a sudden their is a feeling of tightness in the chest and we start holding our breathe. Seems kind of similar doesn’t it? And this means doing some counseling about the past might defuse emotions which create the stress which causes the asthma attack.

A study was done using hypnosis treating 39 people who were diagnosed with asthma. They found that those who were part of the group who were using hypnosis had a 74% improvement in their breathing - Wow that’s pretty good. And there are lots of self guided hypnosis recordings that really do work well for healing asthma… that can be found on the internet.

Also the University of Wisconsin did a study showing that meditation had a powerful healing effect on asthma and inflammation in general. In fact we now know through the study of epigenics that meditation can turn on good genes and turn off bad genes. And at the Royal Hospital for women in Sydney Australia they did a study using meditation with people with asthma. And they found there was a significant reduction in symptoms with meditation. Meditation helps to rid the body of stress, and the release of stress chemicals like cortisol which cause inflammation in the body… and thus meditation helps to prevent and heal asthma. There is also a process from Russia called “The Buteyko Method” which teaches a person to breath through their nose while using their diaphragm, and somewhat hyperventilating to relax muscles and thus helping a person to breathe deeper and easier.

Also yoga has been shown to help in the healing of asthma. A study was done with 57 people who were taught yoga over an eight week period. At the end of the eight weeks the yoga group had a significant reduction in asthma symptoms. And there are lots of great yoga instructors all over the world to learn from… and start feeling better right away.

It’s important to find what works for any particular person. We are all different, and thus our mind/body response is different. Perhaps one method might work for one person and not another, or all of them might work for someone else. In reality the final outcome of being healthy is all the matters.
