Healing Lithics-the Wisdom of Antiquity
Written by Allison Beldon-Smith BA
The duration of human presence upon this Earth is about 6 million years, if compared to the hours of one day we are now at about 5 minutes to midnight. For the past 23 hours the rocks have been our greatest asset, used for everything from tools to healing. When first we began our journey we were simple childen, the Mother lead and we followed, learning and evolving whilst She provided. At about 23.00 hours we came of age, the time of MAN and METAL dawned, bringing war domination and the demise of the Goddess. Mankind chose to call it progress, the women of this new world soon learned to hold their tongues.
Fortunately much has changed over this last hour until midnight, but there is still one final step to take. It is time for us to stop being blinded by the novelties of progress, religious fervour and scientific logic; these must not be allowed to dominate at the exclusion of fundamental inherent ancestoral wisdom.
The time is long overdue for us to recognise and reject the ignorance and bias of cultural and religious indoctrination and to redress our embrace of what it means to be human, a Child of the Earth. We are not visitors waiting to go on (to Heaven),we are of this world and destined to return, part of the wonderful circle of life.
To embrace the use of healing lithics, the earth's rocks stones and crystals is not a return to ignorance, for once knowledge is gained there is no going back. It is infact a step further, beyond human ego returning to an embrace of divine connection with our Mother and the regaining of inner strength and peace that comes from knowing every question does not need an answer, and fosters a return to personal spiritual awakening.
I am at present finishing a book regarding the use of amulets from the Neolithic until the Roman era (and the coming of Christianity).
