This simple recipe for Homemade Pizza delicious and the toppings are just limited by your imagination.
I have included two different homemade pizzas here. One with potato and herbs (carb overload) and another Mediterranean style pizza.
I have mentioned a few times before my family has an addiction to pizza. Most of the time we are pretty lazy and get someone else to make it. After discovering this recipe I will now be doing it myself. Its delicious coming straight out of the oven. Whilst this won’t win any ‘low calorie’ awards, just remember your portion sizes (it’s very moreish!) and it will be much lower in calories than your takeaway version. This recipe makes two pizza’s which 4 people could enjoy.
Ingredients
Dough Recipe (for two pizzas)
- 7g sachet dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon caster sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups plain flour
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3/4 cup of warm water
Tomato Sauce (for two pizzas)
- 1/2 bottle of Passata (tomato puree)
- 1 clove of crushed garlic
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
Potato Pizza Toppings (1 pizza)
- 1 very thinly sliced potato
- Handful of Rosemary and Thyme
- Squeeze of lemon juice
- Olive Oil
- Handful of cheese (grated pizza blend, or mozzarella)
Mediterranean Pizza (1 pizza)
- 2 slices of prosciutto, chopped into long pieces
- 8 strips of char-grilled capsicum
- 1 egg
- Handful of Rocket
- Handful of Cheese
Instructions
- For the pizza dough
- Combine water, yeast, sugar and salt in a bowl, cover and leave for 5 minutes in a warm place. It will start to bubble.
- Sift flour into a bowl, and add yeast mixture, and oil and mix.
- Knead on a floured surface for 10 minutes until stretchy. Mould to a large ball.
- Pop into a bowl that has been greased with oil and cover, leave in a warm spot for 30 mins.
- Cut in half and roll out to a flat pizza. It will rise, so make is as flat as you can if you like a thin base.
- Heat oven to 180. Top pizza with tomato sauce and then arrange your toppings, you can also use an air fryer since its heat helps pizza dough rise quickly. in this case no need to preheat your air fryer. Just set the temperature, and start.
For tomato sauce
- Simply mix all ingredients together for spreading over the raw pizza base
Potato Pizza
- Toss potatoes, with lemon, oil and herbs. Arrange on pizza spread out.
- Top with cheese.
- Cook in an oven until golden brown. Took me about 20 minutes.
Mediterranean Pizza
- Top with capsicum and prosciutto in a circle alternating. Top with grated cheese.
- Crack an egg into the middle.
- Cook in an oven until golden brown. Took me about 20 minutes.
- When out top with rocket.
Notes
This recipe makes dough and tomato sauce for two pizza's. Toppings for one pizza each. You could double the dough and make some for freezing. Just roll into balls the size you want and freeze in oiled back. Bring out ahead of time to defrost.
