Help For Hairy Legs
Written by Sharon Bell
Hairy legs can make you look manly but it can be a pain in the neck if you’re a lady.
These ugly hairs can be eliminated by shaving, waxing, bleaching or the use of depilatory creams. However, all are temporary methods of hair removal and each has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Contrary to popular belief, cutting or shaving has no effect on hair growth. Short hair looks thicker because the scraggy ends are cut, adding to the illusion of growth.
While shaving may get rid of unwanted hair, it must be repeated everyday to avoid a bristly feeling.
Bleaching is painless and does not harm the skin except if you're allergic to the bleaching solution. To determine this, use a small amount on the skin first. If it becomes irritated, discontinue its use. Bleaching does not actually remove hair but makes it less noticeable.
Waxing is one of the oldest methods of hair removal. The wax is first heated and applied on the skin. After it has cooled, it is stripped off in the direction of hair growth. New hairs take time to grow because they are plucked out below the surface just above the hair root, the living portion of hair.
Unfortunately, not all people can tolerate waxing. This can be a painful process and cause skin irritation. Hairs must also be long enough for the process to work.
Chemical depilatories are available in cream, foam or liquid form. They usually take 10 to 15 minutes to work but some people can't stand their odor. Their effectiveness depends on the type of hair growth and skin irritation has been reported with their use.
To choose the method that suits you, consult a reliable dermatologist. He or she will advise you on the best way to remove unwanted hair.
For beautiful skin use Lumnaderm, a whitening cream that eliminates freckles, unsightly age spots, sun spots, blemishes and hyperpigmentation. When used as directed, Lumnaderm will balance uneven skin tones and illuminate your skin. For more information, visit http://www.lumnaderm.com/.
