Hereâs How Anik Singal and Other Entrepreneurs are Staying Fit
Written by Misty Jhones
- Get enough exercise: Exercise on its own is both medicine and a preventive. Easy aerobic exercises such as walking, dancing and swimming will help you stay healthy and combat anxiety and depression that some entrepreneurs are prone to. As an entrepreneur, simply pick a favored exercise and make it part of your routine, either before or after a day of hard work. Because of exercise’s positive impact on both mental and physical health, its benefits can’t be overstated.
- Don’t skip breakfast, and eat healthy: I know we are all wired differently, but skipping breakfast too often isn’t advisable. Breakfast was declared the most important meal of the day for a good reason and thus shouldn’t be shunned. Entrepreneurs who are geared for success understand this and don’t take it for granted. It doesn’t have to be a heavy breakfast. Just something to energize you (not coffee or other stimulants) for the morning will suffice. But it’s not just breakfast, eating healthy meals at regular hours also has a lot of health benefits that’ll keep you in top shape for your gruelling job.
- Have a strong support system: Surround yourself with supportive people who believe in your dreams and motivate your hard work. The road to entrepreneurial success is a hard one that’s rife with failure. To help combat anxiety and depression brought on by this, support yourself with family, friends and colleagues that care. A mentor who walked the entrepreneur road before you and conquered it can also provide good support when you feel down and lost.
- Me time: Every entrepreneur should find the time to disconnect from the internet and the business race to just sit back and enjoy being alive. It is true that for any businessperson, every minute is vital, but those minutes are useless if you’re ill or suffer a breakdown. Thus, find some time to step away from your hustle, and connect with yourself, family, friends and revel in life. Once your me-time is over, you should be reenergized and have a clearer head to face business matters.
- Don’t take any illness likely: As an entrepreneur, if you find yourself suffering from any medical symptoms, don’t disregard it with the expectations that it’ll remedy itself. If you find yourself suddenly experiencing any symptoms that are interfering with your work, see a professional medical practitioner as soon as you can. Symptoms can be either physical or psychological. Either way, never take them for granted especially if the symptoms are recurrent.
- Get enough sleep: I saved the best for last. Schedule and ration your time in such a manner that you get as much sleep as possible. Getting enough sleep is one of the surest ways to improve your health and keep stress related illnesses at bay. Some say 6 hours of sleep is enough, but I say get the amount of sleep that leaves you well rested. Power naps are also very good. Health is wealth. If you sacrifice your health in the pursuit of wealth, you might be able to comfortably afford hospital bills, but wouldn’t you rather spend your hard earned money on something more enjoyable?
