High cholesterol – an overview

This pill contains Rosuvastatin calcium as its chief ingredient, which reduces the LDL cholesterol levels in your body. It works by affecting the enzyme HMG-CoA, which is responsible for producing the LDL cholesterol. This high cholesterol treatment is to be swallowed whole, either with or without food. Usually, if you are taking this pill for the very first time, you will be given a dosage of 5mg or 10mg of Crestor. This again depends on your sensitivity to side effects and more importantly your cholesterol level.

Another prescription treatment that is used by people for controlling their cholesterol levels also belongs to the groups of medications called statins. This medication is known as Fluvastatin and is also available under the brand name of Lescol. It has been found to be an effective treatment for high cholesterol with a low risk of side effects. It is available in the form of a capsule in dosage strengths that start from 20mg. One important thing that you need to keep in mind while taking this medication is that you should not consume grapefruit or grapefruit juice. This is because combining it with Fluvastatin can cause severe side effects.

Lipitor is genuine medication used for reducing high levels of cholesterol in people. This pill belongs to the group of medications known as statins, and with a low risk of side effects. This pill contains Atorvastatin as its chief ingredient, which works by lowering the cholesterol levels in your body. The lowering of the cholesterol levels is carried out by affecting the enzyme known as HMG-CoA, which is responsible for producing LDL cholesterol.
