Parking is one of the most extensive and annoying problems bothering U.S. high schools, colleges and universities. Increasing student enrollment has raised the issue of competing for limited parking spaces. High school students and staff often complain about the less number of parking available in the campus. Expansion of high school buildings often shrink the size of parking lots. Finding out a parking spot during peak hours involves continuous revolving around the parking lots and chasing individuals who are walking up to their vehicles. The expense, frustration, and stress of parking in school campus are the major grievances among students. There are times when students miss exams or arrive late to exam halls because of inability to find parking in school parking lot. The most famous trick for finding a parking space on the campus is to arrive in the parking lot at the earliest. But unless one is coming to the school for an early morning class, it is not really worth it. Thinking about parking, cruising for parking, and debating about parking policies often affect instinctive behavior of students and result in more aggression, dominance, territoriality, and ritual display. Unauthorized parking and safety in parking lots are other issues students have to deal with. Parking issues are not just a concern for students; they are also a problem for school authorities. Many schools are not able to fulfill the parking requirement in their campus buildings. This means that the students and faculty have to park their vehicles outside the campus and then walk some distance to reach up to their vehicles. Leaving vehicles in the surrounding neighborhood can lead to illegal parking, ticketing, and even towing of the vehicles. rnThe best way to tackle the parking problem is to issue high school parking permits which can keep the high school parking lot safe by validating each vehicle that comes in and goes out. Parking permits guarantee that parking is well managed and unauthorized parking is checked. Parking officers can monitor parking with the help of parking permits and increase the overall security of the parking lots too. With assigned parking permits, students don’t have to worry about finding a parking spot and they can even leave their homes later as a fix parking spot is guaranteed. Parking permits might even allow the students to park in a special parking lot, closer to the classes. Having a parking permit can prevent the students from getting a ticket for illegal parking and car towed. Parking passes let the students’ park in a more secure location than the students who have to park in other areas or surrounding neighborhoods. Car and van pooling is also one of the effective solutions to stay away from the frustration of parking. It is a good measure to manage limited parking in schools. An efficient parking and transportation management can mitigate parking issues. Planning and enforcement of rules can not only make a longstanding school headache a thing of the past, but turn a campus into a safer and friendlier place.
