History's Busiest Lovers

"Love makes the world go round," the saying goes. And many people throughout history have made a living out of loving.

Women, he once said, were his cuisine," wrote David Wallachinsky, Irving Wallace and Amy Wallace in The Book of Lists.

And who could forget King Lapetanaka II, the strong ruler of Tongo whom Captain Cook met during his third voyage in 1777? The 80-year-old monarch claimed it was his duty to deflower every native virgin - a task which he performed eight to 10 times everyday.

China also had its own tireless love
in the person of General Chang Chung-Ch'ang described as the "general with three long legs." The warlord reportedly frequented brothels during his life and Shanghai prostitutes said his manhood equaled the cannons that roared at war.

American actress Clara Bow is said to have entertained the entire 1927 "Thundering Herd" University of Southern California football team.
