Aging is a natural process and no one can arrest it. But aging should not be a menace; rather it should come gracefully. As we age, skin acquires the first signs of aging. Vulnerability of skin increases with age and the skin is at the mercy of factors like harsh weather, sun, stress, diet, and our poor habits like smoking etc. Even obesity, daily facial movement, gravity, sleep position etc adversely affect the skin as one age. With age, skin develops fine lines, folds and wrinkles, loses luster and becomes dull, becomes rougher and drier, becomes spotted. Benign tumors or lesions may also develop on skin and eyes may become puffed up with age.

Loss of fatty elastic tissue (collagen and elastin) between muscle and skin occur with aging and this causes the skin to sag or become loose even. Transparency, fragility and frequent bruising are the other ill-effects of aging on skin. The aged skin becomes transparent due to thinning of epidermis or surface layer of skin. Fragility occurs due to the meeting of epidermis and dermis and the resultant flattening of skin. Easy bruising occurs due to age-induced thinning of blood vessel walls. It is true that one cannot stop aging, but every body wishes to stay young and fresh for ever and so all are on the look-out for tips to counter the aging process.
