Home Remedies For Cough That Are Simple To Use And Safe

Cough is a natural reflex which helps in keeping our lungs and throat clean. There are certain factors which can cause cough such as smoking, asthma, allergies, weather changes and inflammation of pharynx or larynx. Some of the common symptoms of cough are runny nose, sneezing, nasal congestion, mild fever, dry cough, thick phlegm, extreme fatigue, red watery eyes and high pitched whoop sound during breathing.

1. One of the simplest home remedies for cough is to drink lots of fluids. This will dilute the mucus and make it easy to cough. But remember not to consume cold drinks, alcohol or caffeine as they can make your condition worse.
2. Hot water compresses or hot water bottles are considered to be one of the most efficient home remedies for cough. All you have to do is take a hot water bottle and place it on the chest region. This will result into breaking up of phlegm present in the region of chest.
3. Grind some ginger and cook it with jaggery and ghee. Make them into small balls and store them. You can suck these balls to get relief from the symptoms of cough.
4. Take a teaspoon of honey and add turmeric powder (one gram) to it. You can consume this mixture to get relief from dry cough.
5. Take one teaspoon of onion juice and one teaspoon of honey. Mix them together and wait for five to six hours. Consume one teaspoon of this mixture twice daily for better results.
6. Take some carrots and blend them. Now heat this carrot juice and drink it hot. This will give immediate relief from cough and will improve your health.
7. If you are suffering from dry cough then you can try this natural remedy. Take four tablespoons of coconut milk and then mix one tablespoon of cuscus grass in it. Just before going to bed you can consume this mixture.
8. Cloves are very effective in giving immediate relief from cough. All you need to do is chew cloves. This will decrease irritation of throat and will give you instant relief.
9. Try to consume well balanced diet which comprises of fresh fruits, vegetables and wholegrain cereals.
10. Use a humidifier in your room to create moisture in the air. This will stop the growth of harmful bacteria.
11. Take some warm water and add salt to it. You can gargle with this warm salt water. This will soothe your throat and will give you immediate relief.
12. Take some gooseberry powder and consume it with honey. Regular use of this natural remedy will help in curing the cough.
13. You can even try consuming tea made with mint and ginger to treat cough.
