1. One of the simplest home remedies for dry mouth is to drink plenty of water. Daily drink eight to twelve glasses of water. This will keep your body hydrated and will prevent dryness in mouth.
2. Chewing gum is also one of the most effective home remedies for dry mouth. It helps in producing saliva and it is recommended to use sugarless gums only.
3. Daily brushing with fluoride toothpaste can also be very helpful in protecting teeth and gums. dryness in mouth can cause gum diseases and cavities. Therefore using fluoride toothpaste is really a good idea.
4. Take some warm water in a glass and then add half teaspoon of turmeric in it. Make it a daily habit of gargling with this mixture. This home remedy can be very effective in treating dryness in mouth.
5. Dry climatic conditions can make you feel dehydrated and cause dryness in your mouth. Therefore whenever you go to sleep use a humidifier to prevent your mouth getting dried.
6. Try to avoid breathing from your mouth and its better if you breathe from your nose. This will prevent loss of moisture from your mouth.
7. Lemonade is very helpful in giving relief from dry mouth by stimulating the thirst.
8. Eating celery sticks is also one of the most effective treatments for dryness in mouth. All you need to do is eat them on regular basis and it will keep your body hydrated.
9. Sucking pits from peaches, cherries and nectarines help in causing saliva flow. But remember not to swallow them.
10. Take some ice cubes and crush then in the form of chips. This will help in keeping your mouth moist.
11. Chamomile tea is equally beneficial herb which can be very helpful in treating dry mouth.
12. Daily brush your teeth and try to floss after your meals. Try to maintain the overall hygiene of your teeth.
13. You can try making a mouthwash at your home by soaking rosemary, Aniseed and mint leaves in water for the whole night. Strain the water and gargle with it.
14. You can even try sucking a lemon which helps in stimulating the salivary glands.
15. Avoid acid-producing foods and drinks such as alcohol, coffee, processed food, meat, soda, junk food etc. If you are a smoker then try to quit smoking as it can also be a major cause for dry mouth.
