Focusing for prolonged periods results into your eyes getting over-used and causes your eye muscles to tire. Tasks such as working on computer, watching television and reading for longer duration put strain on our eyes. This makes us feel uncomfortable as our eyes become dry and irritated.

1. One of the simplest home remedies for eye strain is to splash your face and eyes with cold water. This will give you relief and soothe your eyes.
2. Take a cup of water and add half teaspoon of fennel seeds into it. Now boil this water until it becomes half the original content. Allow it to cool down and then strain the solution. Now with the help of a dropper you can put two to three drops of this solution in each eye. Repeat this process for next few hours until there is no sign of strain.
3. While working on something which requires lot of focus and concentration, you should try to blink more than you normally do. Blinking causes the tears to wash over the eyes and reduces pressure from the eyes.
4. Those working on computers should make it a daily habit of practicing some basic eye exercises. It can be very beneficial in preventing and giving relief from the eye strain.
5. Try to make little changes and adjustments while using computers. Adjust monitor in such a way that the light sources are off the side. Regularly clean the screen of your monitor in order to keep it clear of any kind of dusts. Keyboard should always be placed in front of the monitor.
