Hives is a condition of skin in which there is sudden outbreak of itchy, red welts. It is caused due to the release of certain chemicals and histamine in the blood stream and skin. Certain medications and food ingredients can also cause hives in an individual. Some of the common symptoms of hives are inflamed and red welts, swelling, itching, burning and stinging sensation.

1. One of the simplest home remedies for hives is the use of cold compresses or you can even try taking cold showers or bath. This will give you immediate relief from the symptoms of hives.
2. Another effective home remedy is to take two teaspoons of powdered stinging nettles and make a tea out of it. Add lemon or honey to bring flavor in this tea. Drink this tea.
3. Vitamin E oil is considered to be one of the most efficient natural remedies for hives. All you need to do is apply vitami
E oil on the affected area of your skin. Use this method twice daily for better results.
4. Take three teaspoons of cornstarch and mix it in two cups of oatmeal with water. Make them into a paste and then apply on the affected region of your body for half an hour. Within couple of hours this natural remedy will dry the hives.
5. In order to remove irritating itchy sensation, you should try using milk of magnesia. All you need to do is take a cotton ball and soak it in milk of magnesia. Now apply this cotton ball on the affected region of your skin.
6. Aloe Vera is also very beneficial in treating hives. Just take some aloe vera gel or a pulp of aloe Vera and then directly apply on the affected area of your skin.
7. Calamine lotion when applied to the affected region of the skin will help in reducing itchiness.
8. Take a tub filled half with warm water and then add half cup of baking soda and half cup of cornstarch in it. Soak your body in this warm water. Make it a daily habit to soak in this water.
9. Take a cup filled with water and then add some grapefruit seed extract in it. Apply this solution on the affected area. Use this method daily and you will see the results soon.
10. Add few drops of grapefruit seed extract in one teaspoon of vegetable oil or olive oil. Mix them well and apply on the affected region of your body. This will help in healing hives and will reduce itching.
11. Drinking peppermint tea, valerian tea or chamomile tea can be very effective in treating hives.
