In such dire circumstances home remedies for nasal congestion may prove to be a real life saver, but it is also important to consult a pediatrician as soon as possible. In addition, blocked nose may lead to many other problems, for example snoring and sleep apnea. Also, it may interfere with speech development, hearing and ears. The home remedies for nasal congestion can prevent a person to suffer from such unpleasant conditions.
There are many causes for blockage in nose. Firstly, a person may be suffering from allergy, for instance allergy from pollens may cause blockage in nose. Secondly, it is well known that in common cold and influenza a person has to suffer from blockage in nose also. Thirdly, some medications can also cause blocked nose as a side effect. The home remedies for nasal congestion can help a person to get rid of side effects that are causing blocked nose. Thirdly, a sinus patient also suffers from this uncomfortable condition. Also, when a person is in a position when blood flow increases towards head, which may inflame the blood vessels of the nasal passage due to which nose gets blocked. Finally, many women suffer from blocked nose during pregnancy because of increase in blood flow in the entire body. The home remedies for nasal congestion is effective on all the mentioned caused, but in case of pregnancy a person must consult the doctor.
The recent studies show that acid reflux may reach the nasal area causing irritation due to which a person has to suffer from sinusitis and blocked nose. In addition, evidence of recent studies show that there is a correlation between acid reflux and sinusitis and blocked nose. There are certain home remedies for nasal congestion that are mentioned ahead which may relieve a person form blockage in nose.
1. Increase intake of fluids. Drink hot soups or drink lukewarm water daily. But, stay away from caffeine based beverages as it may worsen the problem.
2. Encourage the intake of spices as extra heat may relieve blocked nose.
3. Boil a pot of water and cover head with towel, and lean on the pot. The towel will prevent heat from escaping, and steam will relieve from blockage within 10 to 15 minutes.
4. Add 3 drops of eucalyptus oil in a vaporizer. Inhale the vapors to relieve blocked nose.
5. In case of chest cold or sinusitis, add one-fourth cup of white vinegar in the vaporizer. Inhaling the vapors will relieve blocked nose and chest cold both.
6. This is the most popular remedy amongst all other home remedies for nasal congestion because it does not cost a dime. Develop habit of exercising regularly. The easiest approach will be to walk at least 4 kilometers in 50 to 60 minutes.
7. For instant relief, sprinkle cayenne pepper on you food. It will ease the blockage in nose within few seconds.
