The home remedies for nausea can relieve a person form this uncomfortable condition. It is not an illness but a symptom of many other conditions. Moreover, it is also called as qualm. Additionally, when qualm attacks, a person feels uneasy and strong urges to vomit. As mentioned before, it is not a disease but a symptom of some other persisting illness, which is why it is necessary to know the reason for qualm. And, home remedies for nausea can treat any cause for qualm. In addition, in most of the cases qualm occurs for very short time, but it may be prolonged at times. Also, if a person suffers from qualm for a prolonged time it can prove to be debilitating, and if qualm is accompanied with vomiting it could lead to dehydration. The home remedies for nausea may help a person to get rid of it as soon as possible.
The prime cause for qualm is motion sickness in which a person feels discomfort in the upper abdomen along with an urge to vomit. In addition, motion sickness may occur due to gastroenteritis or food poisoning. Also, it may occur as side effects of few prescription medications, for example antimetics, metoclopramide or ondansetron. However, there are many causes for occurrence of qualm. Firstly, food poisoning may cause qualm which occurs in between 1 to six hours after eating contaminated food. The home remedies for nausea can help digestive system to get rid of contaminated food.
Secondly, medications can be the cause for qualm especially anesthetic agents or chemotherapy regimens may cause qualm as a side effect. Thirdly, during pregnancy many women suffer from this uncomfortable situation. In case of prolonged qualm during pregnancy, it is recommended to consult a doctor. Finally, when suffering from potentially serious disease, a person suffers from nausea also, for instance pancreatitis may cause qualm. There are some effective home remedies for nausea which may prove to be helpful.
1. The carbohydrate in the non-carbonated syrup cools down the stomach, and relieves qualm. Take 2 to 3 tablespoons of non-carbonated syrup.
2. Eat a piece of fresh grounded ginger. In case of tea lovers, ginger can be added to tea.
3. Have herbal candies, slippery elm or red raspberry when qualm attacks.
4. This is the most effective remedy amongst many other home remedies for nausea. Cook half cup of rice in one cup of water for 20 minutes. Have it when qualm occurs.
5. This remedy is to treat nauseating morning sickness. Prepare a mixture of half tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and 1 tablespoon of honey. Have this mixture before going to bed.
6. To treat both qualm and vomiting, have half teaspoon powder of cumin seeds regularly.
In conclusion, the above mentioned home remedies for nausea are effective, but if qualm persist for a prolonged period consult your doctor for further diagnosis of the problem. It is mentioned before that qualm is a symptom instead of illness itself, which is why it is advised to take it seriously to prevent any dire circumstances.
