A medical condition in which the inflammation in the prostate gland takes place is known as prostatitis. It can be caused due to bacteria in our body which can infect prostate gland. This leads to swelling in the prostate gland as a result of which urine retention can take place due to restricted flow of urine.

1. One of the most effective home remedies for prostatitis is keeping a good hygiene. Try to keep your penis clean and whenever having sexual intercourse it is recommended to use latex condom. This will help in preventing recurrence as well as worsening of infection.

6. Quercetin is a flavanoid which helps other flavanoid in fighting cancer. It is very helpful in treating prostate cancer and is also known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Green leafy vegetables, black tea, raspberries, red grapes, broccoli, apples, onions, cherries, citrus fruits and red wine are some of the readily available rich sources of quercetin.
7. One of the efficient home remedies for prostatitis is to spend time in a warm bath. This will help in giving you relief from the prostatitis pain. All you need to do is spend time in the warm tub for the next fifteen to twenty minutes. But those suffering from heart problems should not try this remedy.
8. Try to avoid wearing padded shorts and riding bicycle. Also you can try adjusting your bicycle in such a way that it dies not exert any pressure on your prostate.
