Home Remedies For Sciatica, Effective Natural Treatment

Sciatica is a severe acute pain in the lower back. Irritation or pressure of one or more nerves that make up the sciatic nerve exiting the lower spine can cause this pain. Symptoms of sciatica may include numbness or tingling and weakness or pain in buttocks, lower back and legs.
Sciatica Home Remedies
There are several home remedies for sciatica which are safe to use and effective when tried at home. Some of the popular home remedies for sciatica are:
1. One of the simplest home remedies for sciatica is to drink plenty of water daily.
2. Garlic is one of the efficient home remedies for sciatica. Eating raw garlic or consuming garlic supplements with vitami
B1 and B-complex helps in giving relief from the pains, helps in circulation and gives energy and warmth to the body.
3. Horseradish poultice is also very helpful in treating sciatica. All you need to do is mince horseradish poultice and apply it to the affected area and leave it there for about an hour. This will help in stimulating sciatica nerve and will give relief from the pain.
4. Consume diet rich in B1 or Thiamine such as liver, green peas, nuts, spinach, soybeans, spinach, beef, pork, pinto beans, breads, legumes, navy beans, bananas, unpolished rice and whole grain cereals. Try to add fresh red vegetables and green leafy vegetables in your diet.
5. Cold and hot packs are also equally effective in giving relief from the pain. Just apply a cold pack on the affected area in order to reduce the inflammation. You can try this method for the next three to five days. After three to five days switch to hot packs in order to improve your blood circulation and relax your tense muscles.
6. Remember not to lift, bend or sit in a low chair or sofa as it can make your pain get worse.
7. To get relief from the pain quickly, you should try stretching piriformis muscle. This muscle is known to have a sciatic nerve which runs alongside it or through it.
8. Sitting for a long time can tighten the muscle, therefore to avoid such situation try to keep moving.
9. Mix potato juice and celery leaves juice together. Juices from potatoes and celery leaves are very helpful in relaxing the muscles. Daily take ten ounces of this juice.
10. Chamomile tea is very helpful in treating sciatica. All you need to do is drink a cup of chamomile tea three to four times in a day. This will help in relaxing your muscles. Or you can even try rubbing your lower back with a tincture of chamomile.
11. Nettles can be used in many ways to treat sciatica. You can use fresh stinging nettles in your bath or make a tea out of nettles and drink it. You can even try brushing nettles on the affected area of the skin to get instant relief.
12. Stop smoking and get enough sleep daily. Keep your legs elevated by putting them over the pillow. This will reduce the pressure from the nerves.
