Hope That Won’t Shift…Unlike the Economy

With the economy the way it is, I've been thinking a lot about how people, who don't know Christ, are responding to all the news. Hearts are failing, people are spun into deep depression, and others are resorting to suicide because they have no hope. And it's true...if they are living for the things of this earth, they're right...they don't have hope. Their hope is in this earth and this earth is going to perish. One day it will be destroyed along with everything in it. "But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up" (2 Peter 3:10).

Times like these, remind me of the words of Jesus, "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" (Matt. 6: 19-21).

If you've repented of your sins, if you've been born again, if you've been forgiven by God through the finished work of Christ on the cross, then He redeemed you...He saved your soul from the grave and from everlasting torment! Just imagine…this earth is as close to Hell that you (the believer) will ever get! But the opposite is true for the unbeliever. This earth is the closest that the unbeliever will ever get to Heaven.

For the Christian, the Gospel produces hope that is not a wish or desire but a steadfast reality. It is not subjective but objective, it is laid up for you in heaven. So what is the hope we have as Christians?

Answer: Eternal life with God Almighty, heavenly glory, treasures in heaven, an inheritance that can’t and won't be stolen or lost. Just think of that. You inheritance can never be stolen. It can never be lost. What a relief! We can rest knowing that God will oversee our inheritance and He is faithful. He will do as He has promised in His Word. He will not let us down. So if you're a Christian tonight, you can rejoice knowing that your reward and inheritance is in heaven...it's secure...and won't fade away. And that, my friends, is something we can be thankful for. "Be strong and let your heart take courage, All you who hope in the LORD" (Psalm 31:24).

Perhaps your reading this and you're not a Christian and you've been placing your hope in things that will fade away and not last...and you've lost hope. Let me ask you a few questions: Have you ever thought about death? Have you ever thought about how one day everything you hold dear to you (your spouse, children, family members, home, car, etc.) will all be striped away by this thing called death. Do you have the answer for death? Have you ever wondered why we die? Where will you go after you die? Where will you spend all eternity when your life here on earth is over?

Think about it. The ultimate statistic is that 77 people out of 77 people die. That means you won't escape death. I won't escape death. No one will! And eternity is a long time. In fact, just think, it's forever and ever and will never end. I'm writing this because I care about you and want you to know that there's nothing more important than where you go after you die. nnwww.FishWithTrish.com

About the Author

Trisha Ramos has been a Christian since her teens. After her conversion, she was immediately burdened for advancing the kingdom of God and sought to grow in the knowledge and grace of Jesus Christ, her Savior. Evangelism was the by-product of knowing that many of her friends and family did not know Jesus as Lord and Savior.

Since becoming a Christian, Trisha has earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education with a minor in Communications. She has spent several years in the public school system, teaching primary and secondary education. She is currently working on the completion of her Masters Degree in Education. In addition to that, Trisha attended bible college including two years of Biblical Greek.

After planning to make a life time career out of teaching, the Lord had other things in store for her. In 2005, she began working at Living Waters Publications and The Way of the Master in Bellflower, California. From that point forward she has not returned to teaching.

Trisha was on The Way of the Master Radio program for almost three years during the “Street Fishing” segments. Now, she can be heard weekly on Wretched Radio. She currently serves as a member of the Living Waters Staff. And in 2007 she managed the daunting task of coordinating a “13 countries in 13 days” European trip to shoot the fourth season of The Way of the Master television program. She has been speaking, teaching, and leading worship for various women's retreats, conferences, and event’s since 1997.
Trisha is the wife of Emilio Ramos, Teaching Pastor of Sovereign Joy Community Church in Keller, TX. She is active in Saturday night evangelism, serves on the worship team, and in children's ministry.
She and her husband, Emilio, reside in Fort Worth, TX.

What other's are saying":

"If you look up the word "diligent" in the dictionary, you will probably find the name "Trish." She is not only diligent, but she has a zeal for the lost, a good grip on biblical principles, and a deep and worshipful love for the God who gave her life. If I want something done quickly and done properly, I give it to Trish. I am honored to know her, and I thank God for the day she became involved in this ministry."

"Every week on the radio with Trish is like opening up a Christmas present. You never know what you are going to get when she hits the streets. She is one of the boldest, most straight forward, refreshingly candid and yet clearly loving people I have ever heard witness to anyone. To get an idea, listen to petite Trish ask a linebacker from a college football team, "Are you fornicating?" Talk about courage! That is why every week is an adventure with Trish."

Healing rarely looks like we think it will. It’s messier, slower, and much more sacred. Some events split life into before and after. A sudden loss. A betrayal. An illness you didn’t see coming. Trauma feels like a storm that tears down the walls you thought were unshakable. But beneath the wreckage, something else waits. Something you might not expect. With time, and sometimes with the right sacred guidance, the very thing that broke you open can also become what awakens yo

Umrah is a privilege only the chosen ones are blessed with. Umrah is one of the most admired forms of worship even though it is not obligatory in Islam. Umrah holds great importance for all Muslims as it allows them to visit the Holy Kaaba and enables them to worship at the place that is also called the home of Allah. Thus, the journey of Umrah is considered as valuable as other higher forms of worship. rnUmrah by definition is known as a pilgrimage to Makkah. Makkah is the h
